hi let me help everyone out here so this stops being a thing:
if im understanding correctly toranaga is using scum equity in the following sense -
if tchill is town then hes contributing to the scum wincon by being low content
if tchill is scum then hes contributing to the scum wincon by being scum

in this specific case tora thinks that tchill is also more likely to be scum than not.
the high scum equity in this case is that a lynch on him is much more likely to hurt the scum wincon than a lynch on someone that tora thinks is town or thinks is being overly protown at this point who might be scum
and leaving him alive is much more likely to help the scum wincon.

regardless of whether this is technically or technically not the correct definition of equity doesnt even matter anyway given that most people probably understand what toranaga is trying to say when hes saying it which makes it effectively colloquial so who cares?

i dont really get townreads on grey, even if my read there is mellowing towards null atm.
hes focusing on a lot of things that dont have much to do with scumhunting which feels like it could really easily be a scum strategy from him to generate content.

all of tnhead's scumreads out of panoptic arent really sitting well with me.
the reasoning for the townreads is pretty comprehensive which feels better, but he could just be properly assessing why people that he knows are town are town. :')

I play mafia on puzzles and other games - a subforum to two plus two, which is a poker forum - since 2012. we use the term like that there. we also use the term 'equity' in poker in a much different manner than in whatever you googled for, since we use equity to talk about the chance of picking up the pot at showdown and whatever branches out of that. you could have just asked, and I'd explain, but instead you chose to go the tool route, which is totally expected from potatoscum people.

Two to tango

What do you make of Srceenplay's recent back and forth with me?
He's dancing a beautifully hard to read line between looking like dense town or looking like scum trying to cover his BS with aggro, and I'm having a hard time parsing it.
I'm currently leaning him getting offended as a town tell - do you see the meat there I'm seeing, or do you disagree and think he's bamboozling me?

As they say, NAI. You pissed him off, he got pissed off. That's genuine. It's also not alignment indicative. That bit about you being Quick's partner was more than a touch scummy though. As is his epic vote sit on Quick (which is also not indicative of Quick's alignment - parking a vote on a buddy not being wagoned and then not pushing for their lynch is both good distancing and completely fucking useless)

If the mod PMed me and said "vig or don't vig" I'd shoot him, but there aren't many people I'd say no to a free vig on. If you want go go corral a wagon I'm game, but the one I'm on seems pretty good to me.
