General Rules

1. I am the Mod. The moderator (me) has the final word. Should I fail in my duties, my backup moderator, FakeGod, has the final word in my stead.
2. I reserve the right to change the rules. Any rule changes will be posted in thread.
3. Site-Wide Rules always apply.
4. Do not use hidden or encrypted text.
5. Do not use any form of provable randomness.
6. Pretending to break a rule will be treated the same as actually breaking the rule. Don't test me.
7. Don't attempt to impersonate me or pretend to be the moderator.
8. Play to your win condition and have fun.

Behavior Rules

1. Attack the post, not the poster. Expressing frustration is fine, but directing it towards another player as a personal attack is not.
2. You have 24 hours to settle any personal disputes, after which time, if I or my backup moderator have to get involved, I or my backup moderator reserve the right to modkill or replace any players as I and my backup moderator deem necessary.

Activity Rules

1. If a player doesn't post within 48 real life hours, they will receive a prod.
2. If a player doesn't respond to the prod in thread within 24 hours, a replacement will be sought.
3. A replacement will be sought immediately upon receiving a third prod.
4. If a replacement needs to be found for any reason and cannot be found within 72 hours, the slot will be mercilessly modkilled.
5. The first Day Phase lasts approximately 10 real life days. Each Day Phase after lasts approximately 7 real life days.
6. Each Night Phase lasts approximately 48 hours.
7. I reserve the right to take up to 24 hours to properly resolve any actions from the Night Phase before starting the next Day Phase.
8. I reserve the right to adjust deadlines as I deem necessary or on personal convenience.
9. At least one Votecount will be given every 24 hours, if necessary.

Voting Rules

1. Votes must be at the beginning of a new line AND bolded. Both voting formats of VOTE: and

are acceptable. If it looks like a vote and I perceive it as a vote, then it's a vote. If I can't tell who it's for, then it doesn't count.
2. If I make a mistake in the vote-count, please notify me either in thread or via PM.
3. Once a simple majority of votes is reached, that person will be lynched.
4. After a lynch is achieved, all living players, including the lynchee, may continue to post until the thread is locked.
6. If you are dead, stay dead. Do not post. Not even a "Bah" post.

Game Specific Rules

1. I will only answer any questions regarding the game or setup for the first Day and Night Phase. Once the second Day Phase begins, you're all on your own.
2. This game is comprised of an 18 player Aspiring Hero Faction and a 5 player Aspiring Villain faction.
3. The existence of Daychat is known.
4. The Aspiring Heroes win when all the Aspiring Villains are eliminated.
5. The Aspiring Villains win when they achieve parity with the Aspiring Heroes or nothing can stop this from happening.
6. Other win conditions do not exist.
7. Access to the Graveyard may or may not be delayed. Do not talk to other dead players during this time.

Incubation Chambers

1. Incubation Chambers allow for the acquisition of special abilities, commonly referred to as Superpowers. As a collective, you are given access to one such Incubation Chamber.
2. Iff a lynch is achieved, the Incubation Chamber may be used at night by the presiding Leader and their Superhero Team.
3. The Incubation Chamber may bestow up to six Superpowers each Night Phase.

Leaders

1. In the Pregame and during each Night Phase, players can anonymously vote for a player to become the Leader. This player will preside as the Leader for the following Day Phase and Night Phase.
2. It will not be revealed how many votes to become Leader each player received.
3. Players cannot vote for themselves.
4. The player who earns the most votes will become the Leader.
5. If there is a tie between eligible candidates, then the leader will be decided based on the following criteria, in the following order:
-If the previous day's lynch was on scum, then whichever candidate contributed their vote to the lynch will be selected. If the previous day's lynch was on town, then whichever candidate did not contribute their vote to the lynch will be selected.
-The player who has previously been the leader the fewest number of times will be selected.
-The player who has earned the most total votes to become Leader throughout the game will be selected.
-The leader will be randomly selected from the qualifying candidates.
6. Leaders cannot serve consecutive Day/Night cycles.
7. The presiding Leader cannot die except in LYLO/MYLO or if a no lynch is achieved.

Superhero Teams

1. Leaders may recruit up to five other players into a Superhero Team.
2. The presiding Leader may form or change their Superhero Team by PM'ing the moderator (me) before Day's End. Late submissions will not be accepted.
3. Vacancies in a Superhero Team will not be filled.

Power Acquisition

1. The Incubation Chambers must be carefully prepared before each use. As such, the Superpowers available for acquisition will be made public at the beginning of each Day Phase.
2. I will only answer questions about a Superpower for the first Day and Night Phase after it has been revealed.
3. The Superpowers available for acquisition is always equivalent to six.
4. Iff a Lynch occurs, the Leader and each of their Superhero Teammates may select one Superpower of their choosing for acquisition by PM'ing the Moderator.
5. A player may only acquire up to one Superpower each Night Phase.
6. A Superpower may be acquired and used in the same Night Phase.
7. Multiple players may acquire the same Superpower.
8. There is no limit to the number of Superpowers a player may acquire throughout the game.
9. Unless otherwise specified, players may only use one Superpower per Night Phase. For Aspiring Villains, this is in addition to any factional abilities they may have (including their factional nightkill).
10. Factional Abilities for the Aspiring Villains are not treated as Superpowers.

General FAQ

Does the scumteam have Daychat?

Yes.

Do all players start out as Vanilla?

Every player starts out as either an Aspiring Hero or an Aspiring Villain. Their Role PM's have been provided to you.

Are incubation chambers like neighborhoods?

No, it's just flavor.

What happens if the player who received the most votes to become the next Leader dies overnight?

The living player who received the most votes to become the next Leader, followed by any appropriate tiebreaking procedures if needed, will become the next Leader instead.

Will the Leader die in the case of a no lynch, or will they simply just not be protected that night?

They will just lose their protection.

Is the Leader's protection absolute? As in, strongman/empowered-type kills will still fail on them?

The Leader's protection is absolute until it expires or is voided.

Will the Superhero Team selected be publicly known?

I will not publicly reveal any Superhero Team.

Will the Superhero Team know who else is in the Superhero Team, or will only their Leader know?

I will not inform the members of the Superhero Team of their Superhero Teammates' identities.

Are Superhero Teams able to privately communicate with one another during the night or at any other time?

Players are not granted the ability to privately communicate with each other for just being in the same Superhero Team.

Are the Superpowers available for acquisition unlimited use?

Yes.

Are powers that only affect oneself treated as 'targeting yourself'?

No, abilities are not treated as targeting abilities unless otherwise specified.

Are the Superpowers a player has/had announced upon their flip?

No.

Superpowers Revealed Day 1 FAQ

Is Enhanced Hearing simply binary in that 'actions were used on the target' or 'no actions were used on the target'?

Yes.

Will Enhanced Hearing return a positive result because of itself?

No.

If someone kills A who uses Phasing on B who uses Phasing on A, what happens to the kill?

Targeting actions need a valid target to resolve. Since there would be no valid target in this scenario, the killing action would fail.

How does Phasing interact with blocking effects?

I use a variation of Natural Action Resolution. Since Phasing is considered a redirecting ability, it would be stopped by blocking effects.

How do Phasing and Siren's Call interact with each other?

Phasing resolves first.

If someone uses Power Mimicry on someone that is blocked, will they still gain access to their powers?

If the targeted player tried to use a Superpower, then yes, that player will still gain access to their powers, even if they were blocked.

What happens if multiple people target the same individual with Spiritual Mediumship?

If it's a valid target, The Spirit gets access to multiple neighborhoods.

What happens if someone using the Spiritual Mediumship Superpower is redirected to a living slot?

Spiritual Mediumship fails on living players.

Is it possible for Power Negation to target a dead player?

No, only abilities that specify they can target a dead player may do so.

Superpowers Revealed Day 3 FAQ

Can Healing Touch prevent killing actions?

No, Healing Touch is not a protective ability.

Does Healing Touch prevent Power Negation?

No.

Can Healing Touch be used on a player with no harmful effects on them?

Yes.

If Healing Touch doesn't have an effect when used, does it still count as having used a Superpower?

Yes.

Will it be announced explicitly whether or not a player has been petrified?

Yes, it will be publicly known whenever a player becomes petrified.

Is a petrified player essentially dead?

A petrified player is not dead and is not treated as a dead player with respect to other abilities. However, a petrified player does not count for parity and can still be killed.

Is petrification permanent?

Petrification lasts until the player is killed or the effect is removed.

Can a petrified player be elected Leader and submit a list of Superhero Teammates?

Yes, actually.

Do petrified players have their alignment flip?

No, because petrified players are not considered to be dead.

Will the game end if all the remaining Aspiring Villains are petrified?

Yes.

Can Freezing block the factional night kill?

Yes.

Does Super Strength bypass Power Negation?

Yes.

How would Power Negation modified by Super Strength interact with Impenetrable Skin modified by Super Strength?

Impenetrable Skin would activate, but Power Negation will still affect other players targeting that player.

If the factional kill is modified by Super Strength, would it bypass Impenetrable Skin modified by Super Strength?

Yes, because it is not a blocking or manipulative action.

Can an ability or action modified by Super Strength be affected by Power Echo?

No.

Superpowers Revealed Day 5 FAQ

What exactly does Goo Generation do? Does the color have an impact on the game?

The Goo is a colored text indicator that reveals any visiting players.

If the presiding Leader still has their protection and uses Self-Detonation, will they die?

No.

If someone uses Self-Detonation and is protected by Force Field Generation, will they live?

Self-Detonation acts as a single killing action against both the user and their target. Therefore, it is possible for a user of Self-Detonation to be protected from their own ability.

Does Superhuman Tracking track all abilities, or just Superpowers?

All abilities.

Superpowers Revealed Day 6 FAQ

Can Mind Control be used on votes for Leader?

No, it only affects votes for lynching.

Superpowers Revealed Day 7 FAQ

If they picked the same power twice, can they use them both with Super Speed?

Players may only have one instance of a specific Superpower.

Can a player use the same power twice if they use Super Speed?

Yes.

Does Super Speed allow a player to use two day-activated abilities?

Super Speed may apply to day-activated Superpowers.

Would using Super Speed in conjunction with two uses of Duplication give a player two votes or three?

Also, if anyone who WASN'T FA(or a couple of other people who I won't be naming) were elected, I would agree with you about the high scum probability. FA is in a unique situation, having recently returned to the game and being generally well known, so I'm not particularly surprised she was chosen.

I actually complained to the mod when I submitted my vote about that, noting that I thought it would be better if there were an open thread to talk about this, UNLESS scum were also unable to talk to one another while making this decision(thus, the question I asked), OR their membership was entirely devoid of "popular" players.
