Game due to mafia+sk is inherently swingy. Town has more numbers than would be expected (and there's less scum than would be expected), and all their investigatives are fairly weak; Loyal Visitor, even, requires one of the gated other investigatives in order to actually function as one.

Intuitively I feel like it loosely works out balance-wise, because while the town has incredibly limited resources and all antitown factions have a fair number of resources, the pseudomultiball nature of the game, smaller amount of scum, and larger number of town gives them fair compensation for their power roles being limited as they are.

If change does need to be made to the setup, I don't want to add a third mafiate and I don't want to leave the mafia defenseless and I don't want to leave the mafia with no ability to hunt sk/prs and I don't want to screw the serial killer over; for these reasons, if change is necessary to the setup, it'd be in revising the town's PRs, because any change I can think of to the mafia/sk would have one of those effects.

I agree that the solution is revising the town PRs and I think that town needs a buff.

What would you have in mind in terms of buffing town?

For the record scum are REALLY strong right now.

Another option would be 1-shot multitasking.

The most obvious immediate buff would be turning the Loyal Visitor into a Loyal Fruit Vendor; that turns it from a situational role to a near-universal role; short of failures due to blocking/commuting, a guilty is a guilty, and any innocent is a HARD innocent.

The tracker could also be made a full tracker rather than 2x.

If the problem isn't ENOUGH town power roles rather than the TYPE/INHERENT POWER of town power roles, an easy role to add to the town would be a Voyeur.

Alternatively, I could add a Roleblocker for killstopping power (though I'd shy away from an ungated roleblocker in a game where there's less scum than would be expected so blocking the kill becomes easy, so if so it'd be something like nonconsecutive).

Obviously, I wouldn't do ALL of those at once (Tracker, Doctor, Loyal Fruit Vendor, the JOAT, Voyeur, Nonconsecutive Roleblocker, is a hilariously broken townsided setup due to the multiple follow-the-cops and HIGH role synergy present), but those are the sorts of buffs I thought of immediately.

I also think it's the right change for a number of reasons related to role interactions

It does make hte game insanely swingy though

There's like two universes

One where everyone who gets fruit immediately outs with the fruit and they become cleared
One where D1 the guy with the fruit doesn't say shit about it until prompted then scum shoot the fruit vendor.

I'll pass with loyal fruit vendor and I think fruit vendor is actually the second best change behind changing some of the scum power which you don't want to do.
