Why does town try to determine if a protective role exists on D1?

That's a scum mindset. There's nothing to be gained for town by speculating about a protective role until a kill is blocked.

If Carca is scum, building her wagon from scratch with a day to go is a huge risk.

Her buddies aren't going to bus this close to deadline, and they have the perfect alibi by simply not posting and claiming they didn't have time to play.
