also I agreed with this so I went and looked - Sashaddin has five completed games, and in his first game, he had lots of questions, like heknew nothing about forum mafia. I might buy that she has those same type of questions here (all but one of his completed games are newbie games) but this ISO from the completed normal game had more game solving early on imo. Eh, this is not as clear-cut as I previously thought. Still don't think Sashaddin deserves townreads, though. I bet at least one player who has called Sashaddin town is scum, regardless of his alignment

Hey, you are right, my first game here was my first mafia game ever, I didn't even know how to play the game when I signed up.
I have played two more normal games, 2040 and 2044 maybe you didn't find them. On Day 1, I struggle a lot because no one got killed yet, that's why I'm a bit lurky and passive. And since this game almost came to a halt I must admit I was putting it aside and stopped focusing on it.

I also must admit that this game has me puzzled, the only scum read I had is bji and his wagon didn't last long. Now the wagons are Clem and Creature and I don't find either scummy, so I'm not voting for now, which makes me appear even more passive. There is new stuff that got posted recently, I hope I'll be able to come up with a read or two.

i feel voting someone because the mod said she might mod-kill it if she couldn't get a replacement is a little ... idk the right word- oppurtunistic? lazy? sticking your vote somewhere for a meh reason of 'well it's better to lynch instead of mod-killing it'

Ah, I immediately thought that the town would have an even number so we'd lose a day. I see it exactly the opposite way of you for mechanical reasons, I think it was a good vote to make at that moment to preserve "time". But I can see why you would think the opposite of me.

Otoh, a scum would have rooted for the modkill, no? One less lynch to worry about...

yeah that's the thing so in context of that other game you cited your response makes a little more sense to me

but like ... modkills are very extenuating and like in the gamestate we were in it's not like that was imminently happening (and i feel like if it were, the mod would announce her intent to do so?) so working around that felt a little weird to me

like yeah a modkill would put it on evens which isn't optimal but i didn't think it was very likely that would even happen; like i didn't feel like i needed to go out of my way to preserve 'time' right then

also if the slot is scum the partner wouldn't want it to be modkilled

Well you have changed your approach and became less "reachy", have made good posts, went into the corners, so not scum scum scum, but you're the most scummy one I can think of right now. Plus it looks like you are trying to white knight (?) me, which I find odd... but thanks!
Tbh, I'd say 55% scum 45% town if I had to place a bet. Not a strong scum lean.
It's hard to find scum on Day 1, for me at least.

You seem to have more experience than I do.
My previous game was 2 scum in a 10 player pool and I felt the game was short; now we are 9 players and I feared it would be even faster, so I didn't want to lose a day.
I didn't think about the " if the slot is scum" thing. It makes me look bad indeed.

that's why i'm approaching this as: talk to me about why you think the slot would actually be modkilled (ie to try to hear if you had some sort of past experience that would explain your approach)

and not: it's scummy to push on an empty slot to prevent it from being mod-killed; if you're scum you're using a vague threat of the slot being mod-killed to find a safe place to vote and push and (maybe?) get in a lynch

OK well then I give up. I thought we had something going but I guess not, I cannot see how you post that if we were on the same page that I thought we were on.

In post 379, you said (to me):

"If we were two cops interrogating a suspect, you'd be the one in his face asking the questions while I'd be the one standing in the corner observing and analyzing the exchange."

I thought this was a soft claim of cop and also a signal to me that you thought we are both town (or wanted me to think that you thought we are both town). In fact I came into this game thinking, "OK I'm vanilla town, one thing I could do that would be useful is try to make stuff happen, even if its controversial, so that the real cop, if there is one, doesn't have to dirty their hands, but can stay away from the fray and make observations that help with the targeting." Then you posted that and I thought you were recognizing exactly that scenario and transmitting to me that you were cop. When I said later that I would not lynch you under any circumstances that was me trying to signal to you that I got the message.

Of course, I did not know whether or not your soft claim was real as town or fake as scum just trying to buddy me. I intended to decide that tomorrow depending on whether or not you made any signals then indicating that you had a guilty and if so deciding whether that guilty was more likely to be a true town guilty or a fake scum guilty (hoping that I'd be able to tell the difference).

At this point though, if you're going to just openly accuse me of white knighting you, then I guess our little understanding was all in my head and in fact I am an idiot and not a genius.

Bonus: I thought that Irrelephant had figured this out and this is why he was pushing me to explain my read on you, which would be scummy because if he perceived this understanding then as town he really would just watch it and not try to interfere. And then when he decided to start scum reading you, I was convinced that if you really were a cop then Irrelephant would have to be scum.
