I don't think the total extent of town losing is down to the setup because yes town has sucked real hard this game (and I could make an argument that a large reason for that is not having deadlines and the sheer amount of replacements needed but that could be a whole damn MD post)In post 40, Dannflor wrote:I don't think town losing here is down to the setup honestly
but I think at least one jailkeeper or the town roleblocker gets lynched for the counterclaims a decent amount of the time, or if not town goes after the town neighbors too hard and loses at least one and possibly multiple lynches there, and the only real power town has is just vigs and the jack of all trades that died night 1 unless the ascetic dies.
Like fucking with the game setups to have built-in counterclaims does eventually hopefully make players less shit by forcing them to evaluate games less on claims and more on play, but in the individual game it's much more scum-sided than town for pretty obvious reasons, and once scum have a foothold late game there's no counterbalance for any individual scum looking good aside from the serial killer. town kinda need investigative roles b/c they sure as hell aren't going to win even an all vanilla 5v15 or 5v20 without them very often. Smart scum just kill the power roles eventually and then bus/distance reasonably well and win the game. The SK is a very big wrench in their plans but considering that the scum fruit vendor is literally the only player keeping the town vig supplied at this point (and scum have a roleblocker on wisdom on top of that it looks like), I genuinely think the entire town as a whole is less of a threat to the scum than the single SK at this point.- Ausuka

i don't agree with this; even if their reads are bad they reduce scum influence in the lynch, and because of lylo and near-lylo you basically have to kill them at some point. In post 32, Jingle wrote:Triple voters are 0% threatening if their reads are bad.- xyzzy

idk if anyone seriously follows the convoluted lore of this series of games but I workedvery hardon this most recent one
also, some of it was stuff that I only came up with in like the last day! when I wrote the beginning of day 3 scene, I didn't initially plan on the mayor being a stand-in for the jester role, but it seemed like such an obvious choice as soon as I came up with it -- I left it open ended enough that I could just drop that premise entirely if she didn't win, but then she did, and it became a thing. there was one small problem with the mayor showing up here, though -- he appears in a scene in Echo Bay Grits SEO, so he obviously can't have died. also, I dunno if anyone even paid enough attention to notice this, but the whole thing with there being two Dorothys was revealed back in Echo Bay Grits SEO, and I wasn't sure how exactly I was going to resolve that. obviously they were connected, but I wasn't surehowthey'd be connected. the kind of silly nonsense solution to this involving both of them being cloned was a pretty easy solution to that. so maybe if Ausuka hadn't won there'd be a completely different explanation for how the two Dorothys are related? I assume I would've come up with something different at a later point in time.
anyway a lot of this plot wouldn't have happened if Ausuka hadn't successfully won! I've brought up several times that the plot to this series of games is derived from the results of the games, and that therefore the people who play in them have an actual tangible effect on what future games look like, and idk if anyone actually cares about any of that at all, but I really like how it's worked out so far. at some point in the future I will have a sprawling series of games with this long interconnected plot and a lot of folks who was part of those games will be able to point at things in it and say "oh, hey, cool, this thing is the way it is because of a thing I did in a completely different game." it's possible no one will care that much and I'm just writing a whole lot of fiction that no one ever reads, but, hey, I'm enjoying it at least.

Ausuka, do you mean the whole "double lynch" thing? I just interpreted it as a joke, though I can't say for sure.- Ausuka

i read the flavour! sometimes i didn't really understand what was going on (like I didn't realize I was the mayor even though looking at it now that should have been obvious.) but i still enjoyed it!
Oh was it a joke? I didn't really get that and I don't think anyone else did either judging by the people voting but I mean I guess it's possible? Not sure what the punchline is meant to be though.- Party Boat

You played it well. I'm not a big fan of the role in the first place, and it should have backfired hard with all the dayvigs (Seriously, that Vax shot was garbo), but it was a really good plan. Just wish you'd have guiltied scum, tbh.In post 43, Ausuka wrote:

Nah, if their reads are terrible you can leave them alive. I was killed both for reads and for obvtowning, both valid reasons to kill someone. Triple voter isn't a role that pulls the nightkill. In post 45, Ausuka wrote:

If it's LYLO, scum only have to pocket the triplevoter to make the endgame theirs. A triplevoter is definitely lynchable up to that point as well, although it's hard. I wasn't a bad kill, but I wasn't a good kill because of my role.
And I sort of agree that there is a frustrating amount of autolynches this game. It's probably balanced, but it's frustrating as town to have the ability to win be so focused on accurate vigshots. This is a Parachute. - Jingle
