its actually not that counter intuitive. Especially in RvS
generally you are more likely to vote someone you know and have some sort of inside-joke with, because its more fun and less just "Why"

There's been a bunch of discussion about nomnomnom in the last few pages, and I sort of thought you voted nom after the exchange with them, and then I just associated the vote from GW with nom. I mix nouns on occasion. It's a thing.
