Someone who plays like NM is probably going to get scum read for it, and is very unlikely to get town read for it since he doesn't explain his actions, so I don't see a scum motivation.

But town!NM fake hammering is doing so for reactions - which you exposing him so quickly stopped dead in its tracks. =/

This isn't a new concept. I've seen it done/have done it in at least a couple of games if you want to see.
