Because any nonmafia team wants to be mason. It's a 'townie' claim that doesn't net a real positive for town (Functionally, it's the same as a neighborhood).
There's also a fair bit to be said about just lynching all of the people who LIKE playing scum in this setup, which is why I never play from the beginning.

This game is an example of why town should not lynch a claimed PGO & claimed seer. Much too valuable information they could provide & even if they fake claimed, we could follow-up on that or scum would prioritize them at night anyway. So what Shad & TT have done regarding me/temp/dave, makes me think they're rather new

Reads in this game across the board have been pretty poor. I imagine it’s a combination of 1) multiball, 2) huge disparity in activity between slots, and 3) relatively short day phases.
That said there’s a lot of scum in this game and their reads are obviously tailored in a way that persue their win condition.

I had never put a ton of thought into these things because they're never used in practice ... until now. It turns out that this setup gets more bastard the more you look at it. I don't think I'll be running it again without personalizing the role list to remove the problems first. I like the concept of the setup but there are just too many problems with the cards as it stands now.
That said there's no groupscum restriction on the recruiter or the black goo. Any partners would simply be told "Player has lost their factional communication and may no longer post in this PT". It's really bastard and not a great solution but at least groupscum can't go into the main thread and talk about loosing a partner without claiming scum themselves.
