Seriously though you don't want excuses. Every scum that "speedlynches" needs to commit. If you have your vote on a player going into the day you could just say you weren't around for that day and aren't responsible (I presume there's no way this gets believed but we're talking correct play here).

I've skim read caught up now, and I have scum reads on everyone who has scum reads... Like.. Wha? Other than a couple of people who made fairly obvious scummy posts, it seems pretty odd to get reads off a few lines...

Unless they're baiting scum to confess, but that seems a fruitless task, there's plenty of spare scum.

a) everyone has a baseline 90% chance of being scum.
b) if someone is doing something that seems awkward, weird, illogical etc, and seems like they might be scum. Then they very probably are. Doesn’t mean I won’t change it if new information trumps the old read. But I have to start somewhere.

Woefully inadequate? But to be honest, that's how playing every wereleg game with this group felt over the week too. I'm just aware I'm rusty af and also that I am *not* up to speed with how y'all play. It's very different. That plus the added pressure of this game? Woefully inadequate. But hey, c'est en forgeant qu'on devient forgeron, I guess.

I mean, I'm not the only person to say this to you, but that doesn't really fly for me. My scum list is mostly made up of people who aren't doing enough. And I would really like to think that those are 100% Bona Fid-e Good Reads^TM, but if someone actually IS town and is basically just lurking? Boo. No. Don't.

If you are the other townie, then from your point of view there are 12 mafia out there. Whether you think I personally am doing enough or not, that still means that the vast majority of people you think actually are doing, and are good reads, actually aren't.

This is nightmarish to be honest, work have decided to beat me senseless this week. But in terms of the game I think I'm pretty much scumreading everyone. (which I guess is the point) cpol avoiding the question, Primate playing completely at odds with his town play, that weird CDB/Nexus interaction, CES buddying up to Klick, Fenchurch just... not being town. Like at all.

How is anyone meant to make any headway with any of this?

i mean it's useless bc scum will quicklynch my partner and there's like a 99% chance they shoot me but hey at least i can say "i was right all along" at the end of the game and that's the true victory

I think you are overestimating the capability of scum. It doesn't become easier for them with increased numbers and it shows (then again, somewhat balanced by the idea that with larger numbers town will be more likely to accidentally shoot the wrong way).

The game cpol and xtoxm refer to was a large face to face game where after a couple minutes they had some eye contact, some hand signs, went over and discussed how they were the two townies while the rest of the "town" was pretending to talk while watching how they had lost the game.

There's no benchmark to play to, you are acutely aware you have to fool two people without them being the focus, and with more and more scum in the game town starts to stand out by virtue of simply not fitting in. Compared to your normal game, look how this game goes through spurts with people doing something very similar. We have half a page of people claiming town after CES asked for that for example. The game goes through waves of unoriginal activity. There's people who struggle to start the game because they first need such a prompt to figure out what to do. Amongst the more common scumtells because why bother calling them out.

Say you are town, you don't have to bother looking it: play to your needs and they'll stand out as being completely different than what the scum think you'd want. Because the way the game looks, it wasn't discussed in pregame. I think most discussed what was going to happen after the grace period since only Fenchurch has bothered to challenge that notion, but the start of the game was awkward enough with only CES having a set up plan how to go about it that there's no continuing conversation from the pregame scum discussion. Given the group and it's normal activity, I think most only checked in and there was limited planning, and certainly not to the extent where it was discussed how to play towards the townies.

I'm not saying you have to tell, but, like, you do not want to be in a a silent period and wanting to ask that question you'd wished you'd asked a day ago when you have a venge you need to land looming. In what is probably going to be a 6 page game pre-decision it's absolutely ludicrious (and scummy) to be complacent or slow. I know there's players that get this and this isn't really aimed at them if they're town but really.
