Coal right now means we choose 7 players via majority correct?
If we veto and give a list of 4 people who we think is 'scummy'/ in poe we can do coal with 6 people and take out one of the unsure 7.
Of course mafia might have more people so the majority is a bit harder to get, but that forces mafia to basically out themselves to save people.

The problem with this though is we don't know how many people made it fail unless you're just suggesting 1 or 2 from the fail + more poe. If so that's fair.

my logic is

we have 14 people alive -> need 8 coalition

if we veto 4 slots that aren't included in the coalition, -> we need 7 coalition

if that veto made us win or lose that means the top 7 townreads were town and the eighth townread was scum... in which case we're going to win this game regardless of where we place veto
if someone is deepwolfing, however, the veto after lets us clear through the pool guaranteed to contain scum much more quickly
