"Bill, they're ready to see you now."

"Thanks," Bill said nervously. He arose from his uncomfortable plastic seat and walked past the receptionist into the Pokémon League Office's conference room. Sitting at the long conference table were some of Kanto's most intimidating trainers: the Elite Four, as well as all of the eight gym leaders.

"Have a seat," Lance said.

Bill sat at the far end of the conference table. He noticed a stenographer taking notes in the corner of the room.

"Now," Lance said, "this isn't any sort of formal trial yet. We're just gathering some preliminary information."

"Yet?,"

Bill pondered. He adjusted his tie nervously. "Uh, what do you all need to know?"

The meeting lasted for several hours with no conclusion.

"Well," Lance said, "while it's clear that these experiments were done in the name of science, there's still a ton of ethical questions that remain hazy. We're not sure what needs to be done. We'll keep in touch."

As Bill exited into the reception room, he was stopped by Kanto's mysterious eighth gym leader.

"I have to admit," Giovanni said, "I'm not quite sure what all this fuss is about. Here's my business card. If you're ever looking for work—well paying work, mind you—just give that number a call. We can help you with your... endeavors."
