That's a good flavor construction but for the record it's about pretty likely the original creation of the mafia term is based on Troll Ascetic. Troll Ascetic was an above average magic card with an ability that says "can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control". WotC sparingly reused that exact ability on several cards but even though they were reusing it so much did not create a nickname for it like they usually do so the magic community struggled to unify around their own nickname for the mechanic. "Trollshroud" was the most common name, and didn't make any sense to anyone unless you had played with or against troll Ascetic. In post 2721, Gamma Emerald wrote:Fyi Ascetic is a hermit so like you can't target them most of the time because like you can't fucking find them
The ability was finally officially given the name "hexproof" about 3 years ago. But Mafia Ascetics have been around much longer than three years. There's plenty of overlap between MTG and mafia players.
It doesn't actually contradict your interpretation really cause troll Ascetic himself looks like he's off being a loner in the woods and not hanging out with people enough to be easily found you just triggered a ramble.
