So like, be on he defensive so we don’t get attacked, but still negotiate?

The only one even close to dying is Formerfish and he still has healing grace. We have a pretty good chance of taking out the slime this turn so Szyme would have to attack him twice to kill (and he's at a checkpoint level so very little loss even if he dies).

With what we know it should be almost completely safe to continue the fight.

So mostly a matter of roleplay and/or getting something out of it. So yeah, I'd say see what the terms are.

He then lets out a deep sigh, raises his hand in the air, and says, "Stop! You mustn't hurt my pets any longer. Let my pet and I go, and I shall trouble you no longer!" Cultist Szyme is offering to surrender. Do you accept or reject the offer? (Be aware, it could be a trap!)

Hm. So Szyme says that they would not trouble us longer.
Can a cultist like them be trusted?
And even if, they could just tell their fellow cultists what happened/warn them and we then face them all - and we won't be able to survive against a horde of these cultists. At least not until much later.

I really don’t think Szyme is in any position to not negotiate here. If we kill him, he won’t be able to bother anyone ever again either.

You'll never find it if you kill me!" Note: He refuses to disclose the exact amount of money he is offering, but as a cultist, he should be pretty rich.

I don't think it's as simple as kill or don't.

I think we can pressure him and see how much he cares about the slime.

If we attack the slime we can see if his offer gets better or he gives more info.

Worst case scenario we still kill the slime and Szyme too. Same as we are about to do anyways.

I’m for taking money.
Not that I want the money, but I’d rather not have to kill if necessary.
However, we should not just “let him go.” If he surrenders, he has to remain with us until he pays us off.
Also, maybe we should look to David for information? They seem to have a past.
