I went to Italy two years ago + I recall liking the pizza in Florence more than anywhere else. I only passed through Naples on the way to Sorrento though, so maybe I missed the best pizza places. In post 2140, Dr Easy Bake wrote:I’m definitely a pizza nerd, and have spent way too much time researching every little thing about pizza, so Naples is the holy land. I say it’s pizza. I’m not one of these pizza purists. Pizza can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. There are many many many different kinds of pizza across the US. I think as long as you are bribing the spirit of pizza along with you, any style is pizza. The only rules exist if you are trying to go with the Naples tradition, and follow all of their specifications. Other than that, pizza is a vehicle to show your personal expression. In post 2146, Menalque wrote:Okay, so I got a question for you:In post 2140, Dr Easy Bake wrote:I’m definitely a pizza nerd, and have spent way too much time researching every little thing about pizza, so Naples is the holy land. Okay, see, I’m not a purist either (pineapple a-okay with me) but I disagree on deep dish. When I was in the states I went to a restaurant in Chicago that was famous for its deep dish, ordered one to myself despite them being for 2 people bc I was so hype. Then it arrived and I’d just never felt so betrayed? There’s SO much sauce, it overwhelms and drowns everything. It’s pie, not pizza (talking in British terms). He’ll, it’s even more like quiche imo. I think to be pizza there has to be some sort of ratio of based to sauce that, if crossed, eliminates the food from contention as pizzaIn post 2152, Dr Easy Bake wrote:I say it’s pizza. Each part of Italy has its form of Pizza, outside of the Naples style, I really want to try the Roman style. It’s where the Grandma Pies of New York got their inspiration. In post 2151, EspressoPatronum wrote:I went to Italy two years ago + I recall liking the pizza in Florence more than anywhere else.
