And also why would being easily townread be scum-indicative?? If he's scum then there's only one other buddy to defend him. Widely being townread is

usually

a town-tell as it generally means the scum are townreading players they don't want to touch / don't think can be plausibly scumread or pushed.

The point of the game is to lynch scum. Not people who are "generally antitown". "Generally antitown" is how scum push mislynches.

I also strongly disagree that he wasn't posting reads. Just because he wasn't answering questions like "who are your top 3 townreads" doesn't mean you can't determine what his reads are from his actions. Dude made several votes yesterday and was grilling into Rise pretty hard when he got lynched.

this is a good question

first - I can't remember if I said this explicitly earlier but I don't believe in the idea of a "null" read. A lot of players play as if they need to

decide

on someone's alignment before they have a read on them, but that's not how I play. There are two scum and everyone else is town. Therefore my default assumption of any slot is "likely town" until I find progressively more confident/indicative reasons to believe they are scum.

That said I still look for evidence of each slot being town (to boost my confidence in reads further) and I had a couple for Blatant. First, I liked the Map Wolf vote in 57, that was a bold vote to make to advance the game state putting the first real wagon to L-2 and I thought MW was a good vote at the time. Plus - no explanation or justification is putting himself out there in a brave way if he's scum.

Next, I really don't think scum generally make posts like 109. It's snarky and confrontational, voting yourself is the exact opposite of scum win-con, and it's loud and drawing attention to himself. That's the whole point of my 125 and 150. At the time I wondered too whether he might have a PR that he was planning to lean on to avoid being lynched. Plus once I went and looked at some of his other games and saw him explicitly state that part of the point his account was to troll/play "scummy" as town (see my 206 again), it just reinforced the simple default explanation of "this is how town Blatant plays the game". Any evidence for someone being scum has to be strong enough to counter such a hypothesis.

Finally, I liked all his votes/reads that he expressed. 143 was a good vote (with reasoning in 146 to boot), 211 and 221 (oh hey look, more reads) looked town-motivated to me. I didn't see these prior to his lynch but 260 and 287 are clearly questions with the motive of pressure to scumhunt/solve as well.

oh also Blatant's 152 was clearly meant to help sort me as well. Which is pretty nuanced read/play from a scum, because the mindset behind that question is "I am town but how does Guilty see that given what I've posted, does he already

that I'm town?" and a lot of rookie/bad scum don't think to project that thought process, instead they just take any townreads they're given.

That's just flat out wrong. I'm not trading our doctor, if one even exists, for outed scum. If BS was scum, my move was very optimal. Based on BS's play, hammering was the correct move to make.

Sure, BS was town here by fluke but BS wasn't a claimed doctor. He soft claimed to fish with intent on him.
