This is actually an interesting question. I think in terms of many things in life, this ends up being the case. Take, for example, driving: When you've just passed your test you are still very cautious and drive in the correct posture, mirror signal manouvre etc. Soon, however, bad habits start creeping in, and if you took the same test a few years later you most probably wouldn't pass. I think the same applies to Mafia. In post 28, Natsu wrote:Oh boy. At first I was going to complain about the SE's not setting Hectic straight for his trash tier posting. But then I realized he was an SE, even though he says he's quite new. Then again in my last game the SE's were the ones making all the questionable moves.Do people typically get worse at mafia the more they play?
This is a decent thought-process. You have earned a Townie point, well done.In post 28, Natsu wrote:In post 10, Hectic wrote:Hey, friends!
I'm quite new, so is it okay if I lurk this game and try to learn from the more experienced people? Also, should we mass claim? It could be useful to talk about who we target in the night. I will start: I am the Town Goon. I am not allowed to target anyone in the night.

This is somehow worse than the first post of a person in my last game, which got her massively scumread and lynch-mobbed. You are playing a complete fool on purpose here. I'm guessing you are trying to get an actual vanilla townie newb to be like "hey, it shouldn't say town goon!" and then vote for you because you look like a terrible scum player who just tipped their hand. So I guess I'll go ahead and grant you your wish and vote for you because it's not supposed to say town goon.
VOTE: Hectic
After reading further I find that Hectic actually has thousands of hours of mafia gametime. But I'll keep my vote here to see where he's taking us with this style of posting.- Luca Blight

this seems extremely disingenuous based on tone + timing, can you explain your intentions with this post?In post 49, ArthurConyl wrote:Woah woah we're at L-1 already and just woke up in the morning.
DP is obviously either scum or not a great player. This is probably the same with Hectic. The thing is they both seem so authentically mediocre that I would be impressed with any scum managing to fake play the way they do. I'm happy with policy lynches not on D1 and definitely not on the first day of D1. I also have reason to suspect at least one of the wagoners of being mafia. This is a very common tactic that mafia use - getting town to vote for the bad players instead of scum. Analysing the wagoners on Hectic.
Spoiler:
@ROUND ONE, your post appears to be fairly non-suspect, you simply voted for him because you felt he was a bad player, although I personally wouldn't have gone so far as to vote for him.- DkKoba

Interestingly in my last game the player omgusing on me in RVS stage flipped scum. Though Id say its probably non-alignment indicative (NAI)In post 16, DkKoba wrote:omgusing this early into the game? Bold strategy

Hey, does everyone mind asking some questions? I want to try RQS (Random Questioning Stage) this game for fun. It's some fun harmless questions which has potential to start discussion. Appreciate if everyone answers. I'm well-versed in Pikapika, so I can translate what Detective Pikachu says.
0) Are you town or scum?
1) Do you prefer playing town or scum?
2) What is your experience with playing mafia?
3) If you could have a super power, what would you pick?
4) What is your ideal location to live in?
5) How excited are you to play this game?
6) If you could ask other players another question, what would that question be?[/quote]
0) Town
1) Town - i prefer figuring out logic puzzles. I enjoy card and board games that involve hidden roles such as bang,
I also like mafia - bluffing can be fun, duh.. I love poker but I find prolonged deception can be stressful.
2) ive played 1 forum game, and ive played fast paced mafia on epicmafia.
3) Flight
4) Melbourne
5) Exciting is a bit of a strong word for forum mafia. Excited, no. Looking forward to some fun and a casual game.
6) No particular one question i would ask. Depends on the context of the game, but basically anything i think requires clarification- 72offsuit

1. I can't work out if you're trying to be serious or not
2. Why are dsjstr, Natsu and I considered scummy?
3. Normally a weird post like this would be considered scummy, listing everyone like you're so smart and not even giving justification? But then again I can't work out if you're scum or just making a bad play.

0. Town (finally)
1. I think I prefer playing as town. Too early to tell.
2. I've played two games on this site, both flawless mafia games. Also some Town of Salem and a little irl stuff.
3. Going back in time.
4. The virtual world
5. A fair bit.
a) The "finally" seems very forced
b) I don't get why its too early to tell. You give me the feelings of a player who has played mafia (in whatever form be it IRL or fast-browser based mafia) a fair bit. I'd be very surprised for someone to not know what alignment they prefer playing as.- 72offsuit

Trying to "earn townie points" is mafia modus operandi 101. Why is this a "well done"? Town goal is to identify scum.In post 81, Luca Blight wrote:This is a decent thought-process. You have earned a Townie point, well done.- 72offsuit

I've literally never played town before. I've played like one game of IRL mafia with like 6 people and no power roles, and I was really good at winning that game as town, but that's technically not the same as forum mafia. Town of Salem is also not really comparable. I treat forum mafia very differently. In post 95, 72offsuit wrote:
