This is pops' suggestion for a rebalance:

If there's a whiffed conspiracy vote, the ttt (town) neighbourhood gets a chance to vote to guess the identity of the townie in the other neighbourhood.

on paper it's technically 50/50 winrate but scum will never self-vote so playing randomly it's 75/25

going by this, we have 0.25 + (0.75 * 0.3333...) which adds up clean to 0.5

i came up with a strategy for town to have an EV much closer to 50% even without the change
I was gonna lay it out later for ToWnCrEd but it didn't end up being necessary

I mentioned the "leash strat" in the thread where this setup was originally designed.
I think it's somewhat ambiguous how it functions in practice, the scum neighborhood is going to be more adamant about selfvoting their neighborhood than the town neighborhood.

Technically you can tell someone "hey, self-vote, if you don't you're scum", but that probably won't go over well

Well I was thinking players could still self vote, but the ttt all agreeing in their hood also be win route. It would provide incentive to use the neighborhoods and for scum to try and work over the townie.
