No, thinking that you're superior is egoistical, no matter how you slice it. Not egoistical would be making some agreement, i. e. we lynch your scumread today and then we lynch mine next dayIn post 25, Alyssa The Lamb wrote:Whether it's egotistical or not depends on the delivery-

i think there may be a disconnect in what you guys are talking about
there's a level of ego associated with considering yourself superior for sure. but being *seen* as egotistical is another decision which people need to make when they consider how to conduct themselves.
mafia is a game of socialising/people but far more importantly it's a game of optics- Ramcius

Easy solve, just teach other players your ways, so scum would kill them insteadIn post 30, Alisae wrote:My problem is I actually get n1’d way too much as of recently I think.

Trying to pretend everyone's reads are the same is delusion masquerading as egalitarianism2019 stats: Town WR 76.7%, overall WR 81.667%, 1 scum defeat involving a major mod error in lylo vs 8 scum wins.-

Tbh, that wasn't the point of our discussion at all, but you're right, yet there's a problem - how to explain people that their reads are inferior?- nomnomnom

Reading accuracy makes you a good vig"Let us say that you are right and there are two worlds. How much, then, is this 'other world' worth to you? What do you have there that you do not have here? Money? Power? Something worth causing the prince so much pain for?'"
"Well, I..."

Well, to do that you need to know what skills you need to have to be able to make your town win games. Reads can factor into that. Yet if your reads aren't good, then you need to be able to determine who you think does have good reads, and follow them. (Hopefully you correctly determine they are town as well)- RadiantCowbells

There's a lot of different ways to play as town that emphasize different skills. Too many people try to be alpha carry mode for various reasons even if they aren't as abrupt about it as I tend to be. You can literally spend all your time in a game metaing and developing a read on one player and if it's correct and you can communicate that effectively and show yourself town as well town just gained two masons but people are way too intellectually lazy about the reads they claim to be certain on and try to do too much in games.2019 stats: Town WR 76.7%, overall WR 81.667%, 1 scum defeat involving a major mod error in lylo vs 8 scum wins.- skitter30

i think it's more important to just like look town enough to take yourself out of the lynchpool and to be able to identify other townies and work with them than to like be able to find scumShowHiatus once more.

Then it would be helpful if you listed those different ways for OP, and the different skills you mention. I welcome different manners of playing, and have tried that recently. Yet I feel it all leads back to those core skills. If a player feigns confidence on a read they are lazy on, then they should stop that and be more thoughtful.-

This tends to give better results than most other strategies in more games I've foundIn post 46, skitter30 wrote:i think it's more important to just like look town enough to take yourself out of the lynchpool and to be able to identify other townies and work with them than to like be able to find scum- skitter30

that's my general approach, just make myself unlynchable and
then try to figure out who i can work with
and if i happen to find scum too that's a bonus, but not a priorityShowHiatus once more.
