The townie motivation is to evaluate your partner then, correct?

both to evaluate your neighbour and to evaluate reactions to it. i claimed mason in a newbie game and caught scum by doing so before i derailed the game. i kinda think town might be slightly more likely to go along with a mason claim as neighbours because it is sorta risky. but i think scum would be more likely to oversell it because i think they'd want to seem really committed to the bit if that risk came to pass and it backfired.

Nvm I misread the context when I made the quote. The bold stuck out as I thought you were being wishywashy proposing that datsni play made sense from his town play while saying it was NAI and pushing a proxy pressure onto Hoctac.

That's why I thought Hiraki should of commented on it but I'm wrong in what lead to that point so meh.

The HEM-HG spat seems to me like it can easily be TvT. I totally buy "trying to more aggressively push my scumreads" as a kind of change someone would deliberately make as town, and I totally buy that HEM would be pinged if HG's playstyle changed that way. What does bother me a bit is HEM voting him in 210 after HG has already explained this, and then unvoting in 223 after the explanation. @HEM What changed for you between those two posts?

I thought it was pretty quickly clear that he had agreed that the playstyle change made sense given his pings. The continuation of the vote seem to be based on his misinterpretation of my read on him which required addtional explaintions on my part.

it was more defensive than it needed to be, sure. i'm perfectly aware i could've "gotten away" with only "lol wagon make even".

And do you think you've ever been over-explanatory as town before? If so, would you mind providing an example? The reason why I think overdefensiveness is scummy is that it indicates a sense of self-consciousness which scum are more inclined to have. However, I do think there are situations where town feel that way as well. Do you think you are able to determine what caused you to react that way? Also for the record, I am using 'overdefensiveness' to mean a response that has greater intensity than what would be expected from what is being reacted to. So it is not the case that I am looking for examples of you simply posting at length, I am looking for an example of you reacting as such when it was not warranted. Why do you not think overdefensiveness is scum indicative?

didn't say it's suspicious, wanted to point out how his most scumread player is a "very weak scumlean". but i do think the general "oh datisi was overdefensive lol must be scum" is complete bullshit. also hoctac agreeing with madoka about it being "overdefensive" after literally i agreed about it too was weird. noth him and madoka strike me as not having a good faith scumread. tho hoctac is allegedly a MaSoN so who knows.
