I will straight up disregard all reason if you have a PR dream again. You can come back and be like, “I dreamt that Locke is a N2 Bulletproof Multitasking Cop and Self-Targeting Doctor,” and I will go, “Okay, Locke kill it is then.”

I think you're right, but my question was a bit more than "I hope you're not scum". Teacher did something specific last game I played where he was scum asked questions to everyone as an introduction. That was my first ever game, and since then I've only ever seen scum do that. So it's the only grain of meta I have on him.

(Or at least, can you see the merits in how saying "I hope you aren't scum" can be interpreted as somewhat scummy? It's a phrase that I've used several times in my opening posts when I'm scum, because it could be interpreted as diet LAMIST from my perspective)

Ninja'ed, saw your post; your explanation was reasonable, as it made sense if teacher pulled shenanigans like so from when he was scum.

I obviously don't use it

it can be interpreted as diet LAMIST

I take it that whatever questions teacher asked, they must have been memorable to you in the sense that you recall scum!teacher using them with you. Yet, you say that you "hope" he's not scum, despite him behaving in a similar way to how he acted in his game with you. Hopes aside, do you think that this could potentially be a scumtell for teacher, or is it not an issue here?

I think it's way too early in the game to tell if it's AI at all.

I don't think its too early at all. After all, you were the one who mentioned it being a trait that was exhibited from scum!teacher. He said it then, and he said it now. Therefore, that's currently all we have to go off of. If you think it's too early, then we can agree that it's NAI then, but teacher turns out to be mafia in the end, then I'd say that "teacher was scum who was using a NAI tactic". And that would be perfectly fine; scum saying NAI things is very normal, as not everything is a scumtell. If you wanted to here my opinion, I would also say it was NAI, as I couldn't say that teacher was scum based on that post alone.

So that begs the question, why bring up that teacher used a similar phrase when he was scum? What would have been the goal in that, for teacher to say "yeah, this is just something I do as scum" or "its just something I always do, so its NAI"?

To garner a response from him. Talking points like that usually make it easier to phase out of RVS.

Town points to Quick for awarding town points.

And I wasnt expecting a static response. If he took it too seriously I would think that'd be scummy since I've seen scum act super defensive before over dumb tongue in cheek jokes.

ost]38[/post] is a weird reversal or misread (though I agree with the quick point).

I’m pretty sure #38 is an answer to #34, and not talking about my #37

If I had to elaborate on #37, I’d say that being active is not exclusively a town trait and is a poor reason to give me town points. It’d be different story if Quick agreed with my line of questioning, but saying that me being active is townie while we’re still on page 2 is far too hasty in every aspect.

Because George said I wasn’t doing something, and you assumed that I was, and then George went along with your take. I don’t have post links right now, but to me it felt like you were misreading him (understandably) but he went along with that misunderstanding in a way that might have been trying to be meldy/blendy.

I apologize, but I don’t follow? When you’re off of mobile, I would appreciate post links. From there we can sort out any misunderstanding and I can continue with my train of thought.

Yo you can't be playing mind games this early seriously

First poyzin says hello to everyone after a leave of absence because of some background check on strangers

Then Quick congratulates him for being active by awarding him town points

Then Bailey awards Town points to Quick for awarding town points

Then teacher agrees with both

@gibus remove that first vote please thanks

I've seen people do "I hope you're not scum" as town, but admittedly not on the first page. I'd place it as NAI right now.

Okay whatever Teacher can get back to me about #44 but I want to finish my takeaway of GB.
In post 17, GeorgeBailey wrote:I'm hoping you're not scum again since you aren't asking those questions. I think I've only ever seen scum use them.
To me, this looks like GeorgeBailey is haphazardly throwing shade at Teacher without needing to commit to a scumread. They through out the possibility of Teacher being scum for a reason that’s NAI for the purpose of sowing doubt in the town. They say that they were trying to “prompt a reaction” out of teacher, and they elaborate here:
GeorgeBailey wrote:I wasnt expecting a static response. If he took it too seriously I would think that'd be scummy since I've seen scum act super defensive before over dumb tongue in cheek jokes.
However, based on the context of the first post, the second post does not make sense as GB’s response. The first post is obviously not a joke but a statement saying that they hope that Teacher was town. Therefore, by calling attention to the fact that Teacher is behaving similarly with their opening questions is only stated to manifest suspicion of Teacher and turn the focus onto him without having to do the legwork and find things that are scummy about Teacher. In the end, it would have been impossible to do so, as at the time Teacher should have very much been null due to the game just starting, so calling attention to something as “maybe scummy”, especially when they stated that it’s too early to tell whether Teacher’s line of questioning was an issue or not. It seems to me as if GB wanted to plant the idea that Teacher could be scum early on without having to pursue it any further and let Teacher react to it, when any reaction that Teacher could give would have been WIFOM at best and completely unhelpful at worst. Because of this, it seems to me that GB’s initial intent was to take a hands-off approach to the game, letting this run their course after provoking others with potential scumtells that aren’t really scumtells. This play style is usually done with malicious intent.

As a lesser but still impactful point, I also disagree with the town points awarded to Quick. For one, giving town points is in no way townie in and of itself, and there were already problems with Quick’s hasty rationale. However, GB giving town points to Quick after a total of 1 game-related post by Quick is already enough to raise alarm bells. I feel comfortable moving my vote out of RVS and towards someone who has a good chance of flipping scum.

UNVOTE: teacher
