I played somewhat frequently for a while, a few years ago, on another site where mafia was more serious business than here. Or maybe it's just that the days were shorter so the levity lasted less by necessity? Either way, I'm still getting used to all the jokes, the in-site references and such. That was a one-way-ticket to lynch-town where I used to play! XDIn post 27, Umlaut wrote:I'm curious about the newbies' past experience with Mafia here. Is this your first game? Welcome, Hectic! I would ask you questions and clarifications about your posts (they're confusing to me, sorry), but I don't know if I could take it if you just trolled me back!- Hectic

Thank you! How about I only promise to troll on even posts? Odd posts will be completely, utterly, deadly serious.
What site do you come from, and do you think anything alignment-indicative has happened so far?- Hectic

Post 27, on the other hand, is pretty scummy. The reasoning of simply wanting "a bigger wagon" seems opportunistic.
VOTE: Umlaut
What do you get out of having big wagons forming early on the game as town? What are your thoughts on the current wagons?Opportunisticis a buzzword.
Scumreading NAI stuff is AI.

I’ve played several games on another site, and I have two completed games here, one town and one scum. I’ve also played with piisirrational and Homura in a game that’s still ongoing despite all three of us being dead.In post 27, Umlaut wrote:VOTE: gibus

Well, as a result of being utterly fooled by someone I was certain was town on another site recently, I’m a bit hesitant to townread anyone at the moment... and I still feel like I don’t really have a clue what I’m doing. But just look for people who seem to be genuinely contributing and trying to solve the game. It helps if I’ve played with them before so I have a better idea how to read them.In post 40, Hectic wrote: [*]@Snowblaze:- What is your process for townreading people?

I haven’t read the thread in as much detail as I’d like. I have no reads off the top of my head, I’ll go back and see if I can dredge something up.
Not this time, no. Don’t worry, I am actually capable of being town. Not necessarily beingIn post 43, Homura wrote:Did you roll scum again, Snowblaze?competenttown, but that’s a different matter!- Snowblaze

Well, there’s nothing wrong with RVS-voting someone who claimed scum, but it does seem a little suspicious that so many people jumped on so quickly... although I’m not sure what scum gains from RVS bandwagons so it’s probably NAI.In post 58, Elmo TeH AzN wrote:

I townread Snowblaze from meta. Her entrance aligns her towngame and isn't like her scumgames. She also fakes early reads as scum, sometimes confident ones even. Her not having any right now is town-indicative.
What pinged you about her just now, Elmo?- Hectic

...I’m still not sure why you decided openly claiming to be scumbuddies on the grounds that no actual scumbuddies would be insane enough to do that was a good idea.In post 64, Hectic wrote:Well, I'm gonna research my scum buddy now, aren't I?
pedit: It’s either town genuinely trying to read me or scum trying to pocket me. The former is more likely, but paranoia. (Also, I really need to get better at mimicking my town meta as scum if I’m that easy to read.)
It’s called Giant in the Playground. I can link to my games there if you want, but most of them are role madness with private networking allowed so may be kind of hard to read without context.- Hectic

Cool, that makes sense.
Never heard of Giant in the Playground before! I was more curious rather than looking for more meta, but sure, linking your last town and scum game from there wouldn't do any harm. I don't know what you mean by private networking allowed.- Hectic

Also, just a heads up for transparency: Umlaut and I have been playing mafia together for two decades now, I think we can read each other better than we can read our own handwriting at this point. This post just bothers me. I get its NAI and your vote is RVS none the less but I mean even then you don't think that scum would just instant wagon or toss a vote on there knowing fully well that its an easy wagon that could have been hammered less then 5 pages in. It means you can PM each other regarding the game. The results have been entertaining, if not always so fun when you’re the one trying to deal with the chaos.
My most recent scum game is about the only one without PRs: https://forums.giantitp.com/showthread. ... a-Werewolf
And the town game... this will be an interesting read, I can guarantee, just for the pure chaos of it all. Most of it will probably make no sense! https://forums.giantitp.com/showthread. ... r-Werewolf- Elmo TeH AzN
