You did that because you thought your partner was a goner but now you're realizing "hey, I can actually save him" and are trying to blackmail this whole town with threats of a no-elimination to try to get your way.

One man doesn't dictate whether there is lynch or no lynch. You don't know his timezone situation either. It is perfectly reasonable for town to make their last will prior to twilight. Twilight is inherently risky anyway.
