How was shielder even supposed to get the idea that "I cannot pass master to another player" was a viable fake claim.
When they claimed as soon as they replaced in.
This is the other reason I don't particularly see why they would want to fake claim as town there. They just joined the game and the immidaite thought of fake claiming to stay alive is more something scum would do then something town would.- Servant Foreigner

Like idk, if I saw everyone say "I can do this thing, does anyone have the ability to not do it?"
"Oh I can't do it "
That's just not what I'd fake claim to try and get a small advantage as town if I thought I was in a bad spot?
I am basing most of this on the assumption Shielder read little to none of the game but I think with or without full game knowledge it doesn't look good for them.- Servant Foreigner

Can someone answer the following question for me, it's something that is bugging me even in regards to reading the Shielder wagon.
If you were on a team with Shielder how would you approach the day phase? Preferably my town reads should answer this because I don't really want the wifomy answers of my scum reads explaining the opposite of what they are currently doing lol.- Servant Moon Cancer

Shielder didn't claim it as soon as she replaced in, she replaced in, apparently read 5 pages before saying she'll come back later then 14 hours later claimed not to have that ability.
I see reasons she could have done that as scum. I don't know enough about her as a player to know whether she really is the type who'd do a gambit like that as town, but I've seen other players do that sort of thing as town in similar situations for seemingly no valid reason other than it's what popped into their mind as a good idea...
I'm hesitant to say anything like "it's more something scum would do" when it really seems more like a play style thing than an alignment thing.- Servant Foreigner

Personally my approach would probably be awkwardly bury them while staying at the very backline of the wagon.
I wouldn't want to be the center piece of pushing them down because I think that would be negative attention.
Although I would never defend them either, this is mainly due to my reads as scum to just be a mirror of town conensus using my own made up reasoning.- Servant Alter Ego

More importantly, how does this logic vibe with your scum read on me?In post 1930, Servant Alter Ego wrote:

I was trying to not say "I think I know who berserker is" just bc spirit of the game, I meanIn post 1907, Servant Foreigner wrote:
I mean I don't think I am outing anything, it's a loose description of "I can't beat them in a 1v1", I don't want to talk about this and actually end up leaking something though. In post 1901, Servant Caster wrote:

I would assume they were going down and prepare to attempt a hypercarry, ie start looking as town as possible. Not sure exactly how I would then approach shielder perse, but it would be with an eye to assuming they would die.In post 1927, Servant Foreigner wrote:Can someone answer the following question for me, it's something that is bugging me even in regards to reading the Shielder wagon.

As a general statement, obviously. In post 1888, Servant Avenger wrote:Scum lie disproportionately more often than town.
But when it comes to role-related lies, I think it's more a playstyle thing than an alignment thing. There are certain players I know for a fact will NEVER lie about their role regardless of their alignment. They'll omit and exaggerate, sure, but never lie or at the very least keep lies to a minimum if it's absolutely necessary to lie. (90% of the time, this is me too.) On the other hand, I can name a fair few players that will lie about their role almost every game as town. And the only reason they don't lie about iteverygame is that sometimes what would normally be a ridiculous lie just happens to be the truth by random chance.
I think Shielder v2 was probably somewhere in the middle of the two extremes.
And I'm currently thinking the slot is town.
And I don't care about the act of lying in and of itself (especially since with Shielder v2 gone, all I can currently do is make assumptions about why it happened instead of being able to ask).- Servant Moon Cancer

Bus, look for an opportunity to go for a lesser scum read in that VCA creation assassin did. Hope for the best.In post 1927, Servant Foreigner wrote:Can someone answer the following question for me, it's something that is bugging me even in regards to reading the Shielder wagon.

I would bus the crap out of them, and look for weak points in the town who can be pushed on future days while killing off the loud town voices. In post 1927, Servant Foreigner wrote:Can someone answer the following question for me, it's something that is bugging me even in regards to reading the Shielder wagon.

To be clear: I am not townclearing shielder. I would not townclear them even on a caster red flip. To me they are both firmly in the PoE as I have a significant number of townreads elsewhere.- Servant Moon Cancer

I don't really know what this is in response to specifically, but I suppose I should mention that I'm not seeing any sort of narrative like that in Shielder's posts but I'm also not really actively looking for it either. In post 1894, Servant Avenger wrote:I think his viewpoint could be a simple way of setting himself back to gain town cred early. Give up a shot at the crown but get a seat up at the table. Later, he wasn't uninterested in being elected if he could rack up the votes, if I recall.
On the other hand, there's consistency of view point where it's harder to see him playing from that angle.
My read comes from an amalgamation of individual (what I'm calling) town indicators. Posts that I think are tonally town, paragraphs that I think are unlikely to come from someone whose goal is deception, etc.
I'm mostly interested in the micro stuff over the macro stuff.
(This is also why I don't really care for any of the "Berserker is pushing incorrect reads and this helps scum" ideas floating around currently.)- Servant Avenger

Archer was pretty much a universal scum read if we go by the gun to head lists. I'm not really counting that as a plus for anyone. In post 1939, Servant Berserker wrote:Archer was already on my scum list literally from the Master phase.

*shrug*
TBH I'm more interested in being correct than I am in stopping any wagon that develops on anyone (including myself).
I've been around the block enough times to know I could entirely halt the Caster wagon if I wanted to be persuasive, but it doesn't currently interest me. I'm just using this game as a whetstone for my accuracy more than anything, as selfish as that may sound.
So if the Caster wagon does go through and I am correct, I'm not going to be depressed or anything. And if I happen to be incorrect, the only thing I'm going to be concerned about is where I went wrong.
I don't think Caster is scum and I've yet to see an argument for why they're scum that seems at all convincing to me. - Servant Moon Cancer
