With 20 alive, it takes 11 to curse someone with the scroll. If there is no majority by the deadline, the mafia will choose who to curse.

The cursing deadline is in (expired on 2020-10-28 03:35:35).
Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

The town that got passed to always passes to that person we decided was heavy consensus scum. They have a strong chance of flipping scum and missing the NK

If you mean probability of 86ing scum, then the probability of the first kill being scum is probably less than 25%, since I recall towns being worse than random guessing day one, but that probably isn't what you mean.

I understand it now. Ideally we would want to hit scum in position 3, since that player can't pass the scroll again. Position 1 is ok, since position 2 can in theory catch another scum in position 3 again (the ideal situation). Position 2 is the worst position for hitting scum, since we would only hit 1 scum, and that player would have a choice whom to pass the scroll to.

I.e. the possible scroll passing options are:
T > T > T (the worst)
T > T > S (pretty good, deny scum a "NK")
T > S > T (gives scum a "NK")
S > T > T (as bad as the above)
S > T > S (the best, but very difficult to achieve)

Is this correct?

Vault that's right
initial thoughts

I think Zdenek's effort to find a strategy is rather townie with the proactivity, i think town are much more likely to read the setup tbh
hopkirk actively disagreeing with it is also town-ish
UNO ignoring the mechtalk makes my scumdar go off a bit with the passiveness towards setup optimal strategies

im bad at mech so cant really weigh in on setup spec, but 58 looks decent, so we should aim for town being the second pass, and scum being the first target, so it's still fairly like regular scumhunting

there is no night phase and this was a prominent fact in signups

Ok I still haven't read but I have a question that I want answered by the time I do, should we change how we lim? Like if there is someone who people townlean but we know they have a strong scum game are we more likely to vote them in this setup? I've only played one game with LLD but we were scum together and at the end of the game I remember saying that I wanted to give her my win from the game so that she could earn 2 . If someone like that does end up being town then they can take care of the lim bait we normally would have voted. This is just something I was thinking about during signups.

oh and here is something i just thought of
scum will probably save their shot to grant them victory at parity plus one

so we will most likely only get information on who scum wants dead based on who scum passes a scroll to
and their votes as well but less clear information from that
point being we have to find scum first

the good news is we have 3 day phases and 9 kills to do that
and due to how the game works we can win at close to parity as long as we know who scum is by then
having said that if we have not hit scum by day 4 we lose
as town won 2 games | lost 5 games | mislynched 3 times | dayvigged once | nightkilled once | vengekilled once | survived once
as scum won 2 games | lost none | lynched once | dayvigged once
and if you count large normal 204 then i won that game after replacing out as scum

oddly enough 3 day phases is also the quickest town could win
assuming scum does not shoot or pass to themselves

so perfect victories for both sides are a three day game
as town won 2 games | lost 5 games | mislynched 3 times | dayvigged once | nightkilled once | vengekilled once | survived once
as scum won 2 games | lost none | lynched once | dayvigged once
and if you count large normal 204 then i won that game after replacing out as scum

My question here is how do we handle scroll passing.
Once a scroll is given we've a 2 day deadline to work out who's next and we don't know who's hit until the 3 flip.

Assuming Scum just YOLO it and hand it out on whoever they deem [un]worthy, are we still wanting to use votes and a clean slate to work out who to hand it to next? Or are we using the votecount as a base and going from there?

I have, how would the consensus be established is what I meant.
It's all well and good having a handful of vocal players doing what vocal players do, the consensus could be easily lost under a vocal minorities persistent screeching.
Given the 2 day window to allow pass alongs that's a bit of time for reads to change based on bits of information, the scroll going to the first player shouldn't be a hard lock on the process at that point.

All 3 of these look the same:

T > T > S (pretty good, deny scum a "NK")
T > S > T (gives scum a "NK")
S > T > T (as bad as the above)

however the difference is the scum do not get to eliminate someone we have lock-town'd correctly in the top example.

I don't think this should mean that we avoid hitting people we have down as say obv-scums earlier in the elim chain - we should still be going for max scum equity each shot.

also in the event that we hit scum first, we should still do our darndest to hit scum on the second shot. i think its a bad play to hit town on purpose.
