Agreed. I'd always tell players in my games that scum could target each other with night kills if they asked.

This is also why GF is non-normal. While being counterable, it’s too much of an advantage to be cop-cleared as scum if not operating with that proper paranoia level. It’s comparable to a move or strategy in a competitive game being banned despite counters existing if the counter requires specific action to implement that counter rather than being something that can naturally happen in what the opponent does. I was privy to a few of these calls when I was consistently active in Pokemon Showdown battles, especially when I tried to play OU and Monotype. I didn’t really participate in the decision making but via reading the rulings I got to see the in-depth process of deciding what was so broken it had to be banned.

Pretty much my move was just to ignore it until I started to sense real malicious intent. If we’d PoE’d down to tw’s bracket and he was still being cocky he would have become the primary elimination target.

An idea for a future haunt.
If you're running another haunt that doesn't have so much chance of scum kills, I'd recommend adding a timer mechanic similar to the turn order timer in the board game.

Oh also, idk if anyone has seen yet but my 'flashlight' was 100% a lie, I was gonna tell Gamma this when they sent me the pigeon, but I just didn't want scum to try and attack me at night

I did catch that - nicely done. It had me like "...huh?" ingame (generally I felt like your mechplay had like a kind of inward focused/survival motivation which I attributed to insincerity oops) but I wasn't really motivated to guess if it was real or not. I think I would have fallen for it as scum too
