Thought skitter's point re: "what do we do if there was more scum in this thread as opposed to that one?" was interesting.

My thoughts wrt to it are twofold. For one, I expect the situation to be fluid - if end of day I want to strangle everyone around me and the dark timeline is holding hands and singing kumbaya then it's fine to call an audible, I just figure it's more likely to succeed if we arbitrarily decide a default. Secondly, maybe the plan doesn't do work! Still OK, I disagree firmly with unwnd that there's a strong mechanical penalty for shunting scum to a different timeline and believe that even if there was a penalty we'd gain some ground in increased accountability.
