Has there ever been a more appropriate name for a hydra?
I claim Ascetic Nihilist.
To me, this does not read like Bell + Sam were both informed of Shelly's role. Shelly's play around GX kinda doesn't match the vibe of the scumteam which was like, joining in on jokeclaiming ala Gamma Emerald. Like a lot more pockety, which to me makes it feel like they were not all informed on the commuter/ascetic claims the way shelly seems to be

we can also think about ydra's reaction to the claims here. her characterization matches with the joke theme but does skew away from ascetic toward commuter (A.T. field is a protective power in Evangelion), but it's not a joke that suggests she's planning to play into shelly's claim
to me this suggests that Bell, for example, when he's making 35, is not informed of shelly's role exactly, he's like joking with her and stuff. But he *could* be informed of Ydrasse's role, in the same way that he *could* be informed of Sam's role. He could even see "commuter enabler" in Ydrasse's role PM but it's not his role pm, maybe he hasn't at this point like, fully internalized the implications of ydrasse's role PM and he hasn't actually made the connection yet that shelly/GX are commuters, not ascetics, like he's joking about. Like it's kinda weird theater for Bell to make jokes about Shelly's fakeclaim if Shelly is already softing a fakeclaim, right?
idk.

I was gonna wait until 24 hours were left or someone was e-1 to post this, but now that the game has livened up and it's close to 24 hours anyway, I'm gonna roleclaim
*drumroll*
enchantress
yes, that is the 3rd commuter claim
what's even more interesting than there supposedly being 3 commuters in this game is that I targeted pelican last night and they died anyway
I've been conflicted since the gypyx/shelly interaction today as to which is most likely mafia (I mean I guess it's possible there are 3 town commuters but?)
for gypyx: he claimed first and was the first to claim commuter
for shelly: I found taylor's posts outside of the roleclaims to be extremely town
@gypyx and shelly, who did you both target last night?
Thought experiment from here:
like the thing is here, the confusion of this post makes more sense of sam is scum with ydra than with shelly. Ydra's role PM, which does almost certainly include the "commuter enabler" language, does not actually state what the rules text on a commuter is. Sam, seeing the part in enchantress that talks about commuting, thinks that given Ydra's role PM that Shelly and GX have the same role as her. *the confusion in 1857, rather than confirming she's not same-PT as Ydra, actually suggests that Sam perspective slipped and shared a PT with Ydra, because she misunderstood the implications of how the rules text of Ydra's role PM interacted with her own role PM and what the implications therefore were for Shelly and GX*
I'm not entirely sure that's accurate, but I think the consequence of this is that Sam is not a traitor, she is same-PT as Ydrasse, she read and misunderstood Ydra's role PM, and this is actually why she also misunderstood the implications of Shelly and GX's roles.
The remaining problem with Sam scum is why she claimed she targeted Pelican n1. Maybe she didn't see confirming scum's power to town as a mistake? Maybe she thought claiming protective would be good obfuscation? This still really bothers me. The n1 claim of targeting pelican brief makes more sense for a traitor that did not understand the implications of what that claim would mean for how town would solve, but Sam's misunderstanding with Shelly and GX's roles suggests, *I think* she is shared-PT as Ydra, but perhaps not necessarily so.
I don't actually know why this matters, I think my solve at this point remains the same regardless of whether Sam is traitor or shared-PT groupscum, I think her play at EoD yesterday makes more sense if Sam as traitor. I think at this point I mostly just want to be able to call it before the flip tbh, but also I want to feel like I understood Sam's strategy as scum because some of these plays basically just boggle my mind. I think Sam as traitor, having no idea what claiming the save on Pelican would mean, makes the most sense, although I have a really hard time reconciling that with her insistence that there can't be roles with multiple parts today, since that's a weird thing to fake misunderstanding.
