This looks roughly balanced to me. Cupid's role in the setup is exciting because in a closed setup such a role would be more likely to be used for consensus eliminations but in this setup the dead's potential disagreement with the consensus of the living adds some pizazz. The same is true of the vig, too, I guess.

Yeah, my brain was being weird about the numbers. The thing that I'm actually concerned about is still a viable concern though. Once scum is down to one member, it's almost impossible for them to come back.

It doesn't make it unviable, necessarily, but the setup very much supports landslide victories in one direction or the other.

Additionally, town is def going to use their PRs early and that game is going to be a mountainous for the vast majority of it. It would probably be a viable chat or F2F setup if you had a large dedicated group and a good way of tracking votes though.

Mostly agree with jingle here, no way that everyone isn't going to use their 1-shots early on

If you can pull together 38 people to play mafia, there's a lot of things you could do, too.

I might be able to make this work, though.

We'll see.

Don't knock F2F giant mountainous setups, Gypyx. That's how I first started playing mafia and they're a ton of fun.

On another glance at the setup it's broken by massclaim, btw.

Massclaiming basically forces scum to commit to PR pools and every scum elimination creates conftown.

Specifically in formats when dayphases last like 10 minutes. It's low commitment and leads to funny resolutions.

Psychologist will yield a "can kill" result on the Babysitter.

haven't really outlined that yet but i'd say no

making the alien macho is an idea but then this would probably go into scum-sided territory and make this even more swingy

hey, wanted to run that sometime soon in the Micro Queue so does that feel balanced to y'all? (yeah this is probably a pretty different way to play the game, but imo it's still mafia, kinda, idk i like the original game and wanted to see how it would be like there)

The Admin is aware of who are the members of the hacker team, but not what are their roles (pls wait before saying this is outrageous you'll see)

The hackers have a PT in which they may talk at any time, they don't know who's the scriptie and he doesn't know who they are

instead of voting to execute peoples, the players take turn suggesting and voting for a team to send for "node maintenances", players propose teams in order of the playerlist, they may skip their turns, and upon thee 5th refused node team, the hackers immediatly win

once a node team has been approved by majority, the game enters a 24h "night" phase where all of the members of the node team must choose to either
hack
it, or
secure
it, a single hack makes the node mission fail

There are 5 nodes in total, having the following sizes in that order :
1st node : 2 players 2nd : 3 players 3rd : 4 players 4th : 3 players 5th : 4 players

the first team to gain control of 3 nodes wins, if the agents win, the hackers get one last chance, they are all revealed to each other, and may try to nuke one player, if the nuked player is the Admin, victory goes to the hackers instead

I'll comod this.

"Five rejected node teams" is a bit nebulous. I propose the following:
votingInstead of voting to execute, a hammer is passed around the table, starting from the first person in the player list. The player with the hammer may propose a node team of a varying size, depending on the node (see below.) You may also skip.

After they have proposed a node team, all players may vote for or against the node team. The proposer also votes for the team. If we reach a simple majority in favor, the node team is accepted, and those players will begin node maintenance, and the hammer passes to the next player.

If a proposal is skipped or majority is not reached, the hammer passes to the next player in line, who must propose a node team or skip.

If five node teams are rejected in a row (without a success) it's a Hackers win.
