I think Implosion-scum is worried I'm setting a trap, whereas Implosion-town would probably just try and co-operate.

What do you mean "might"?? The setup explicitly does have a Traitor. 2 Goons + 1 Traitor is how the game starts.

But the top of your post is also -maybe- town indicative of you. I don't see why Scum!you would point out several players townslips.

Also, Pooky isn't completely sold on you being scum, and I value Chief Pooky's opinions.

(This is me thinking aloud, but ALSO meant to help someone like Salsabil get how the setup works)
In post 2, Rockhopper wrote:During pre-game, the Mafia Goons, Mafia Traitor, and Vanilla Townie roles are distributed to the playerlist. The Mafia have 24 hours to select any of the follow modifications to be applied to the team (up to three) assigning which Goon or Traitor gets the additional abilities. For each modification the Mafia select, an additional modification is granted to the town (up to three). Town can then be randomly given new roles, two plus additional roles granted by mafia (up to three for a max of five).
Town starts with 2 guaranteed (unspecified) PRs. Mafia pick up to 3 modifiers and town gets as many additional PRs.

A Goon flipping means Town has 2 PRs minimum and 4 maximum. One was the Hider so we have 1, 2 or 3 living PRs..

Let's see..

If we have a Neapolitan we have a clear
If we have a Follower/Jailkeeper we have a "soft-clear"
If we have a Doctor we have nothing

In this setup you can't recruit the Traitor in pre-game. You -instead- have the option of making one of the 2 Goons a Recruiter, and if the Recruiter shoots the Traitor they recruit them instead. (At least that's what I figured by reading the setup and comparing it to the original
Stack the Deck

The mood in APD Headquarters was somber as Detective BM walked the suspected killer in.

Just the night before they had found two of Metro City's finest gunned down in cold blood.

One of them being BM's partner NM..

The jovial bovine had been sitting at Millie's Diner guzzling down his eight cup of coffee, trying like all hell to drink the cobwebs out of his head after the wild celebration party for the successful execution of Princess Artemiana.

Unfortunately somebody knew NM's habits and routines.

That somebody put 50 bullets through the window,

NM never had a chance to even reach for his service pistol.

The look on Detective BM's face the morning after - a sight truly terrifying to behold.

Now alone mano y mano with the suspected killer - all the emotion boiling over.

Detective Pooky turned off the security cameras and led the rest of APD out of the observation room.

Sometimes things had to be done off the books...

implo, if you are town-aligned you are a town asset (at least in my own view), but before you try to form reads I urge you to go reread the setup we are in to understand it fully. Like, the Traitor is still a Traitor at this very moment is an essential difference between this setup and it's predecessor. The Traitor in this setup can only be recruited if shot by the Recruiter, and since we did have a NK then it's obvious the Recruiter -if exists- did not shoot the Traitor. There are no other killing roles in this setup (the original had the possibility of a Town Vig). I know these are some minor details but I think they're essential for you (or anyone else) to keep on mind still. Like this setup has a Neapolitan as opposed to a Goon Cop in Stack the Deck, so our investigative produces Inno's rather than guilties, and the inno's are solid (the clears of the Goon Cop are soft)

Perhaps they can, but that requires them to both know who the traitor is and sacrifice a kill, with pretty disastrous consequences if they're wrong.

I suppose it's a little more likely that scum bussed if they are a recruiter, but that's still a pretty big risk to be taking unless they already knew who the traitor was (which they evidently didn't).
What is the benefit of recruiting the Traitor with no daytalk? I'd say it's minimal (just a PoV.. based on my own playstyle). If I was Scum I'd probably pick no modifiers (thus keeping TPRs to a minimum). Traitor does know the main team, which is good enough, and even if the main team were both eliminated then the Traitors inherits the factional kill. Simple.

This I got -btw- from the original Mafia Traitor PM in the original setup:

If you are not recruited and are the last surviving member of the mafia, you will take over the factional kill.

It is not explicitly mentioned in this modified setup, but as nothing that counters was mentioned I assume it's the same

I think picking no prs is a strong move for scum.

this is an exceptionally poor take, given the quality of discussion which has transpired. I'll consider Dunnstral back on the table for today as a fallback option.
