OkaPoka: Multitasking Odd-Night Rolecop Even-Night Roleblocker
the worst: Informed 2-shot Activated Bulletproof ("There are three town roles with the "announcing" modifier")
hercule: Goon
Hopkirk: Goon
Spoiler: Night actions
implosion wrote:Night 1 actions:
Almost50 babysits Titus
Dannflor neapolitans DGB
innocentvillager doesn't submit an action
DGB tracks Bell (apparently. sent to Isis)
Dunnstral kills DGB
OkaPoka rolecops A50
Luca Blight kills Dannflor
Bell activates bulletproof
RESULTS:
Dannflor and DGB die; jjh inherits a 3-shot announcing neapolitan with 2 shots left due to above stated role inheritance priority.
jjh927 receives "You have now inherited the role of 3-shot Announcing Neapolitan. You have 2 shots remaining."
Titus receives "You were targeted by a Babysitter action."
OkaPoka receives "Almost50's role is Announcing Babysitter."
(nothing sent to DGB or Dann as they are dead, except a "you are dead" pm)
OkaPoka blocks Dunnstral
OkaPoka kills Dunnstral
Bell activates bulletproof
RESULTS:
Dunnstral dies.
jjh927 receives "Hopkirk is NOT a Vanilla Townie."
Hopkirk receives "You were targeted by a Neapolitan action."
Ythan receives "You were targeted by a Babysitter action."
NOTE: I actually messed up action resolution this night. OkaPoka blocked Almost50, and I mistook the target. Ythan should not have received this PM, but I realized this just after sending the PM out, and decided the path of least harm was to simply treat announcing roles that are blocked as still sending messages for the remainder of the game (since this is technically not clarified on the wiki, though it should be). This never really affected anything so I don't feel too bad about the result.
jjh927 receives "OkaPoka is NOT a Vanilla Townie."
OkaPoka receives "AGar is the vanilla role for their alignment."
OkaPoka receives "You were targeted by a Neapolitan action." (These will be in the same PM)
innocentvillager receives "You were targeted by a Babysitter action."
Also note: jjh is now out of shots.

no need for any result PMs, as the only person targeted by an announcing role is dying.
I'm happy to talk about the setup design for this one (or the other) if people want. It basically started with the announcing roles, with the idea being that all of those roles give interesting info to the person being targeted regardless of whether they're town or scum (e.g. Hopkirk and Oka getting targeted by the neapolitan told them both that they needed to fakeclaim real roles).
implo was I supposed to use my role before massclaim lol
the only night gypyx and I actually seriously considered using it was night 4 on hop or Titus (not that it would’ve mattered apparently cuz babysitter)
I just said claim visitor or just claim PR and hope no one asks to buy time.
PRs kinda claimed early for the most part. I wish we had swapped games because I did horrible in mine.
ScumBlade's eloquent performance left me utterly disoriented, debased, depraved and sent me spiraling into a horrific murky abyss with emotional turmoil and immense despair as my only companions until slowly I suffocate in my own gloom, surrounded by failure. I will never recover. -- Zachstralkita about Mini 1841 GTKAS -- MathBlade
The announcing vanilla cop was not intended to be negative utility. Announcing, as I see it, isn't really negative utility in isolation, at least; you're informing someone that a role exists, but that's not a super exploitable piece of information. If you hit scum then you're telling them what they need to claim but that's not
negative utility
, it just means that you're forcing something they might not have wanted to do.
Part of the point of the role in this setup was to potentially synergize with the neapolitan; if the neap gets a not-a-VT result and the vanilla cop gets a vanilla result, then the scum is put in a nothing-i-can-claim-saves-me situation, though this would only work on the two goons.
I think the scumteam did a few things that were very impressive in this game. First off was pulling off the fakeclaim obviously; it kind of makes sense in the setup with symmetry with the announcing neapolitan being gated, the issue from a design perspective being that vanilla cop doesn't really need to be gated in that way. Hopkirk managing to find a fake breadcrumb out of whole cloth and present it believably was impressive. Second was associatives; I feel like scum did an unusually good job making associatives really muddy. I definitely don't envy luca or bell having to replace in with the context of the first game, though obviously as I said I am very grateful to both of them.
dang you foresaw this exact scenario up to the lylo. well planned
If I am to be honest, us scum bois did not plan it out like this at all
It was more, we fucked up losing control of the thread and we kinda undid the fuck ton of work that went into day 1/start of d2 to basically split the game into two factions, and the only way we could salvage a win out of this mess was this. Again, shoutout to hopkirk for salvaging it because even though he ended up being townread n2 during elo, getting there from how doomed it looked after 3 chained scumlims is not an easy task.
