no? in a claim situation scum is going to lie, where if town sees fit to claim it's generally not a good idea to lie.In post 169, morph the cat wrote:So, hypothetically speaking, as town you would have announced that you debuffed us?

i'm not going to go into a bunch of different scenarios where one would lie or tell the truth about a debuff as town/scum, when the point of my post was to illustrate a scenario where the investigation has an actual use."Sibling," Farkran asked, starting slowly.

The levels of meta play going through ur head. FascinatingIn post 174, morph the cat wrote:
Shea, I know you were not in it, but something INCREDIBLY similar to this was used to clear LLD in FGO mafia (I was the mod) where all of town had a thing, but didn't know that the others had the thing, and somebody stepped forward confident that THE THING gave them ultimate cosmic duty to get an upgrade/shiny.In post 166, Thestatusquo wrote:What is the town motivation for just claiming like that?
That is how I read Toog's play.
"I have this shiny thing and it seems unique and suspicious enough to me that I feel the need to claim about it, lest somebody investigate me and it comes out as a wasted fake guilty gotcha"
So I'm town reading it more than just a miller claim.

I'm saying I don't think the claim has any intrinsic town motivation for making it, and mainly I'm concerned with it being given a pass just because its a weird thing to do, which is something I think towns do a lot and its exploitable. In post 170, White Fire wrote:Shea do u not think the claim indicates anything or u just arguing that it didn't have town motivation
In terms of the actual ability claimed it seems to have more anti-town than pro-town utility to me but this game is intricate enough that I don't feel super comfortable just straight up thinking its more likely to be a scum role than a town role.My memes are no longer relevant to the youths

I mean, it seems like it was from a (real or emulated) mindset of "there's no point in hiding my role if it seems useless, so I might as well let people know so they can help me figure out what to do with it". Which is not entirely true, but it's not crazy. In post 166, Thestatusquo wrote:I guess my question is: What is the town motivation for just claiming like that?Shame on a martyr claiming friends

it's behavior i've seen a lot from town, and the reason i get occasionally tilted about it in themes. In post 166, Thestatusquo wrote:

I feel like very often someone does something odd and everyone is like "oh, they did x odd thing they're less likely to be scum" without ever examining why town would be more likely to do X odd thing. It's definitely a mindset from town that I've exploited before as scum.
in this case i would say Toog isn't sure how to use their role and thought it would be easier to crowdsource feedback."Sibling," Farkran asked, starting slowly.

Do nintendo know I would pay full price for ports of pikmin 1 and 2 on the switch?
but i don't need ports, i have a wii u. all it does is play wind waker and pikmin 3. i love my wii u."As best I can tell, jjh is some kind of wizard with mind control powers." -Jingle- Thestatusquo

As a mod of a lot of large themes I will not be participating in any mass claim nonsense. In post 175, Sigmund wrote:If we do some mass claim nonsense to try to break the game it will be an insult to unwnd and unfun.
If the setup is designed well it won't do anything, and indeed as a mod when I make setups I explicitly punish for being too loose with hidden information. I'm sure cabd is going to try because that's what cabd does but I'm not participating in it.My memes are no longer relevant to the youths

I don't intend to encourage anyone else to go down this path.
It was a one time use thing, and it appears Toog used it.
I agree that unwnd likely designed roles that punish massclaim.

It's amazing what the power of thinking about another player's mindset and projecting a "town toog model" can do, isn't it?In post 186, Something_Smart wrote:

the principle is more about it being a towntell because the player engaging in it had less information that scum did. in FGO, the scum had multiple roles to look at and so they could see something every role PM had, where the townie in question in FGO thought their role was uber special. In post 186, Something_Smart wrote:

i disagree that it's as much of a slamdunk here, it's a different situation and there was no townslip.
it's just a very towny action thanks to the lack of info that appeared to be motivating it."Sibling," Farkran asked, starting slowly.

This is town to meIn post 138, Toogeloo wrote:unwnd is totally stoned face for this. I joked if I should roll a d20 for a skill check on my night action... Didn't even get a "lol" out of them.
Anyways. I have a pretty questionable innate action, and even more questionably use SP skill.
My innate skill is I can check people's current HP. I checked Save The Dragons last night (random.org). They have 3 HP. Comparatively, I have 5 HP.
My other ability, which costs 2 SP is to check a target and see if they are using SP as well the same night. I didn't use it last night.
My "class," is called Sovereign. I'm royalty or something.Farkran is back poggers-Alisae- Guillotina
