Just had a idea for a game which i wanted to run for marathon day .
Based on the Heroes theme ...
The game has people with varying powers , with some powers being more 'special' than others. We represent them with points.
We have
3 people with 3 power points
3 people with 2 power points
3 people with 1 power points
3 people with 0 power points (People with no powers)
Mafia consists of 3 players. (3,2,1) power points each
Sylar is the SK and starts off with no powers (0 points). Every night he kills someone and absorbs their powers (i.e his points is increased by the points of the person he killed)
Mafia win when their total points > (Points of Town + Points of SK) *
Sk wins when his/her points > (Points of Town + Points of Mafia)
Town wins when all bad guys are dead.
* Obv. when calculating points for mafia , we only consider players alive- ChuckNorris

Has anyone done a Chess Mafia? If not I think, when I am qualified I'd mod that. What do other people think?"Lag is worse in real life than in Video games. If you don't believe me, look at Jesus, it took him 3 days to respawn after he died!" Khelvaster

I actually have a really cool idea for an open set-up Chess Mafia.
The Kings are actually playing a chess game with the other 30 players.
The Kings just need to checkmate the other King, while the pieces just need to kill the scum randomly distributed within them.
I like it because the Kings and town are both trying to influence each other to kill/lynch certain players/pieces.
Kings would be unlynchable, unkillabe, of course.
And the Bishops, Knights, Rooks, and Queens could all be power roles.
Thoughts?- Yaw

I'm in the theme queue to run a chess mafia game with a bit of a twist - during the day the scum and town play a game of chess, with the town (inc. scum obviously) making a move by voting. When a move has the majority of the vote, the move is made and the game goes to night where the scum get to discuss and make a move in return. The town would play white and the scum black.ChuckNorris wrote:Has anyone done a Chess Mafia? If not I think, when I am qualified I'd mod that. What do other people think?
The town can also lynch at any time, which will also end the day, but that gives the scum a NK.
Either side can win either by winning the chess game or by normal mafia conditions (eliminating scum for the town and achieving a majority for the scum).
It should be interesting I think.
edit: If anyone's interested feel free to PM me for a pre-in. Chess experience is naturally a huge plus.- Tomato

And now it's time for another Good Idea/Bad Idea.

I would have "checkmate" not end the game. The town still has to find the scum, but the winning king's team gains something (an additional power for their queen, perhaps) while the losing team loses all their powers.
I think a checkmate could best be represented by having the following requirement to checkmate: Each night, the bishops, rooks, knights and the queen collaborate and send one name to the mod. If the name is the name of the enemy queen, she dies, and the enemy king becomes killable. - Wall-E

This game will have one team gain the upper hand in one of the two arenas of battle, resulting in the town forcing the mafia to play whichever game they're losing at. It's giving the town too much power, in my opinion. - WallI own a design studio :)- Awesome Pants

You might be right, but I forgot to mention that every day the townhaveto play a chess move, even if they lynch as well (lynches will not take place until they reach a move majority). If the mafia are about to win in a couple of moves, then the town will have to lynch before they get a chance to checkmate. The town does hold a bit of power in that regard, but the mafia also have some power in that they can influence the town's move during the day and can make clear decisions during the night for their own moves.
Any suggestions to balance it further are welcomed though, particularly a way that the scum could make a come back if it looks like the town are going to win on the board.- ChuckNorris

Oh clarification time.
Checkmate does not end the game.
The pieces on the chessboard double as players. To the Kings, they are no more than pieces. To the players, the Chessboard means nothing, other than noting who may be in danger of being captured/killed in the game.
So the thirty-two pieces would all start off in their starting places. Every two days, the kings alternate making moves. Meanwhile, the town focuses on finding scum.
When a piece is captured in the chess game, that respective player with that role dies in the game. When a player is lynched, his respective piece is considered captured in the chess game.
The twist is that the town and king are both trying to influence each other to accomplish their seperate Win Cons.
Sorry for the confusion.- ChuckNorris

I was thinking of a Mini Theme, Insane Mafia. It would be so that every player had a special role except from one. One person would be a plain old Vanilla townie. That would make it fun for roleclaiming. Also Mafia would find it hard to claim aswell but the Mafia would also have some good roles too."Lag is worse in real life than in Video games. Actually, I have claimed the idea of a Medieval Mafia some time ago, in the Large Theme Game List... but the Middle Ages history is so rich that I'm sure it can provide varied flavour for different games.OhGodMyLife wrote:Would anyone be interested in Medieval Mafia, roles inspired by the history of the Middle Ages? Slash does anyone know if this has already been done?
It'll be a large theme, so its gonna have to wait until I'm eligible to mod one of those, but someday in the near future.-

Would anyone be interested in a Code Geass mafia? I saw Death Note mafia in the mini theme list a little while ago, and I thought Code Geass might work as well. Would probably be set somewhere in the second season flavour wise, with around 12 players. I have a rough setup now, but want to gauge interest.
EDIT: I could use some reviewers/people to suggest improvements too, would really help if they have watched both seasons of Code Geass though, send me a pm if interested.- wolframnhart
