Weak Hider is better than cop, but a little trickier to play.

Bulletproof is usually a scummy claim to make, but if claimed on D1 in an open game it gives us confirmed town that mafia can't touch.

Clarification, because I've had multiple people ask:

The criteria for a Stump's submission require that a submission be a single valid role to be put in a Normal game of mafia. As such, disloyal vigilante, loyal neighborizing mason (Although this role would add a player to a separate neighborhood, not the masonry they were part of), and full bulletproof are all equally valid submissions.

A role that is normal like but belongs to two players (a masonry with a shared vig shot, for example) is not a single normal role and is thus not an eligible submission.

You could also choose to submit something monstrous, like, for example loyal combined rolestopper-hider-cop-neighborizer, in which case I would probably use my right of refusal per the rules and veto the selection, resulting in a VT.

The 1 Shot ability activated by the sacrifice of a Treestump and any Mafia roles added to the game for balance are NOT required to be normal roles, but will not be bastard. That means, among other things, there will be no Janitors, cultists, Sauluses, Framers, Tailors, Lawyers, etc. Godfather is specifically possible, but unlikely, due to my dislike of that role. I will not be using any serious mafia mutations mechanics wise, so there will be no roles like Mafia Hero, Arsonist or Mafia Kingmaker.

Basically, the stronger the town roles you choose, the more design space you give me to work with for the scum team.

I am a good selection for treestump. People frequently suspect me - probably because my play as Mafia is not that different from my play as town...
I can ask difficult questions and if they come from confirmed town they won't get shot down as "scummy". I, however, can also let the game develop without interfering in everything(so that it is more difficult for people to pocket me). I will not pressure everyone to vote my prefered selection - except maybe at the final one - because that will cause the game to go into inactivity.
Now, to the roles...
I will not submit Masons, ever. Mason is the worst possible pick:Masons will have TMI just like scum, and that is the reason why they are TERRIBLE. They dilute reads and allow(if made public, atrocious) Mafia to masonhunt by simply mafiahunting, obscuring everything but TMI until the Masons claim.
But what else I pick... that's up to me; I have a nice idea but it would be a bad idea to publicize it.

i'm of the opinion that townstumps are better used as people we want bulletproof rather than some kind of pre-emptive investigation, or choice for people we think will be hard to sort. i feel as though using it that way is more akin to choosing someone to just remove from the game rather than choosing a voice we want around for the entire game

I'd have to disagree here. I think making someone like NM, who nobody is gonna really have a good time sorting is perfectly valid.
Plus I know NM is a good player, so making them a stump would force them to have to actually play more or less, since we'd be expecting on them to lead town a bit.
