If someone role claimed to you and only you in a game, what would you assume their read is?

See, I gathered that if he really was town, then you would need to be a town read at the time when they claimed to you.

But then I thought that 340 was shade at you for claiming to need more information, ie, his read was changing, especially given his 245 indicating that his read on you was not set in stone.

Maybe I just misread the intent of 340 then. The inconsistency has resolved itself

even if i were 100% locked on cabdscum which im not, i would say pls don't end the day until we figure out what we're doing with the shard. even if we decide not to use it, it should be intentional

This seems like a hard question to puzzle out.

Scum want players to turn demonic for their alternate win condition, so inherently this makes me think that we should just not give out shards.

But of course, there is the carrot of unlocking town demonic powers, so giving shards to town players can be good.

So the answer seems like if we are going to give out shards, that we should only give shards to town players who would get a reasonably strong benefit from the change.

But the conversations on which townies get good abilities from the shards seems anti-town, because then the scum team can accurately avoid giving out shards to townies who don't benefit any/much from the shards

(I am assuming that they can also give out shards, because otherwise their alternate win condition would be moot given the fact that we would just always stop handing out shards once we reach a "High" number of demonic players)

i am hesitant abt shards bc from my understanding a certain amount turns a player demonic and mafia win w 7 demonic players

What about sending shards to mafia, since they are already are demons so sending shards doesn't affect them? I believe the mafia wins when convert at least 7 more town players into demons. Is my understanding of the setup is accurate? can someone validate and confirm on this?

If they self hammer, they get a shard.

If they don't, then no shard for the day, and no one else talks about their shard worthiness?

Giving scum shards seems really bad.

There are 3 mafia, and currently 0-2 demonic players, so at least 1 scum is human.

So, scum getting shards is like the worst possibly scenario. We would be helping their win condition, and we would be activating their demonic abilities

Lukewarm's plan sounds decent. The only problems I forsee is that perhaps scum can get a boost from a shard and also, sometimes town see a boost shiny and they might not fully think it through, also, just in general there's a risk that it outs power roles worth killing but on the other hand those players because they would be universally agreed on as town anyway were already a good scum target so it shouldn't really matter there.
