as town: there's stuff that's going on in your head, and youre posting. if you get into a little argument about what the things were in your head, it's pretty painless to set things straight and give specific anchors as to what your intentions were. sometimes people even do so intensely! like: ahhh, can't you see what i was thinking, it was so clear to me, etc. etc.

as mafia: when you post you are possibly going through a set of possible motivations you might have and choosing the one that seems most true to form. and when you write the posts, you hope that there is a line of thoughts/motivations that makes sense that it would map to your posts. if someone argues with you, thats spooky. i think a way to approach it that feels safe is to be vague and try to close off as few of those potential thoughts/motivations to your posts as possible rather than pin yourself down to one thing. i think you have been playing very unpinned.

and therefore wouldn't use in forum even with the massively increased deadlines which'd allow me to do whatever

i think the average townies (or at the very least, me? i haven't taken notes) reward consistent and clear solving a lot and if they can glean one or two descriptors from a skim of my entire ISO or recent posting then i'd make it those

and that's exactly how i play as town too
you could make a case that the failure to keep up with that sort of thing is scum-leaning as i'm trying to mimic my previous towngames and failing

but this whole game has been sort of a failure for me LOL that likely transcends alignment

I don't really consider trying new things to be meta manipulation, I meant more like picking out certain tendencies and attitudes to attempt to replicate as scum. Which is what it reads like you were setting yourself up for.

And I don't really see the general statement of new players not having much established history/reputation as a specific claim about you that necessitated refutation, so I didn't consider it relevant enough to include in the quote.

I can somewhat understand where you're coming from here, but it still feels off to me. It just reads too much like scum trying to cover their bases, with a sprinkling of AtE for good measure.

it's a bit of a double-edged sword, yeah? if i'm trying to replicate something from my past games (which i actually have two of now, one finished about 30 minutes ago) then it would be pretty blatant and it would take an ISO or two to completely knock me out of the water. missed opportunity to try and catch me doing something evil, :wink:

I looked through their ISO after reading this, but I don't see the continuous scum mindset you're seeing behind his posts. Can you please explain that a lot more?

you're right that i've been uncomfortable in this gamestate this entire time

If Pooky is town then i don't see why Enchant is being so vitriolic about defending Pooky so it's probably not cows/Enchant/non-pooky, also Pooky is just town for the votepark

schadd seems fine and at least is defending you and now is even pushing back to cows when the wagon on you is very unstable. Again schadd/cows/non-pooky doesn't make sense.

schadd i did read your interaction with cows and it is like slightly pingy but not enough to make cows into a SR for me. i think id need to see a bit more

i resonate with the idea that when people go like "this is what i was thinking, it's very clear, how can you not understand that" it's a towntell

im less convinced that mafia are intentionally playing "unpinned" to keep their options open as a hedge. it feels like if it is true that mafia play as you described then it is more just like reflective of a subconscious "trying to explain away their actions/hide guilt" mindset

but the fact that it's still a towntell definitionally implies the absence of that when questioned about mindset is a weak scumtell so regardless you might be right

i just don't feel that it's particularly strong, i find that the other side would've been stronger for me personally. and it does seem like between the two games the way he's been getting pressured feels p different, in the game you linked it was more direct and so he could give more of a direct response.

i will admit that: it is weird that cows has posted so much and i can't get a read off him on dayplay, it always feels like there's just this dripping dry somewhat self-deprecating humor in all of his posts which is actually by default kind of scummy because i don't see him going through all the emotions of getting pressured and stuff it feels very flat. Which actually maybe now that im writing this makes it feel town!indicative/NAI again because scum feel way more pressure being run up despite being weird. could just be playstyle specific idk.

i also feel like i put more stock into what i think is going on in the gamestate as i underlined above and i think there are not many people that make sense as cows partner at this point in time.

i am very open to my mind being changed about that though
