Pandemic

Pandemic is a co-op game for 2-4 players where everyone must cooperate to find cures for 4 diseases before one of several loss conditions is reached.

I will be running the game myself and posting board images using a program, although I am also capable of playing if there's a shortage of players. You will not need a copy of the game or any other app installed to your device, since this game will be played entirely via the forum.

Please refer to the Original Rules (image heavy) for how to play the game.

Spoiler: Game-specific Rules

1. Each turn will last up to 48 hours from the time of the board being posted. The turn can be ended earlier if the player in charge at the moment decides to submit actions early. Extensions can be granted if necessary.
2. Only the player whose turn it is at the moment can submit their actions, unless the host allows the other players to do so.
3. If you don't post for 72 hours in a row or miss an action deadline twice in a row, I will start looking for a replacement. I can also replace you of my own accord if I feel that you haven't been active enough.
4. If you are not playing, please do not post in the game thread while a game is in progress.
5. Make sure to bold your action submissions.
6. No rule-breaking moves. Obviously.

This game will be a standard "no expansions" game with up to 4 players. I might later start more games with expansions included if interest is high enough.

To enter, just post /in or something similar in this thread. The game will start on the 6th of November, 2021 or whenever we get 4 players.

if you still want to play, we have one decision left to make before the game starts: how many epidemics do we play with?

4 is recommended for newer players who want an easy game, 5 is a “normal” difficulty of sorts, 6 is quite a bit harder and 7 is extremely hard and suitable for experienced players

I need to get a nap in, but will be around tomorrow. First timer (but very excited to roll dispatcher!) so open to any suggestions. Should we perhaps be focusing on curing the blue disease as a priority? It is both closer, and appears to be fairly spread out.

Looking over our powers:

You can move us around as well as yourself, as well as teleport anyone to a city if someone else is already there.
I can remove all cubes from a city instead of just one, as well as auto-clean cured diseases wherever I am.
Nancy can discover cures more efficiently.
Charles can stop infections from spreading.

So looks like my priority should be getting to cities with three cubes and cleaning them up. Milan and Madrid are both three cubes and next-door neighbors, so that's what I'm going to look to do - get there as fast as possible and get them out of the danger zone.

the worst, since you said you were open to suggestions, I can think of a couple of ideas.

1) Cleaning up locally in North America (New York / Washington / Miami).
2) Using your dispatch powers to move me closer to Milan.

Or assisting Charles and/or Nancy with their priorities, once they have a chance to chime in - since your power is uniquely suited to helping others out.

As far as disease priority goes, Black is looking like a good candidate to me for first cure - we have three black cards between us, and Nancy has two of them, so we're well on our way to having the card power to deal with it.

Thanks for the pointers. I can see the map much more clearly on a monitor, and *wow* you can wreak some un-havoc in Milan/Instabul/Khartoum/Kinshasa.

It doesn't seem practical to trade off my cards yet (we do likely want Nancy doing research). I believe I can use my blue city cards to shift one of us straight back to North America, and then my ability to move others to that city? So it makes a lot of sense fmpov to use my turn to set up some coverage on other continents.

What if I:
1) move Farren (medic) from Atlanta to Washington;
2) move Farren (medic) from Washington to New York;
3) move myself (dispatcher) to New York;
3) move Farren (medic) from New York to Madrid;

On Farren's next turn, he'd be able to access the {Paris, Milan} cluster. On my next turn, I can start cleaning up New York unless I have some more ✫彡 dispatcher magic ミ✫ to do?
