I actually think the decision isn't worth stressing over as much as an IC, though. Aiming for a townread ultimately just means you'll be highly probable to be a nightkill anyway.

I'm not Taly but I don't know why you're emphatic about denying town any agency or input into the alignment of the IC's partner. I love Isis, it's an interesting idea, but practically it is terrible.

Games are difficult as scum because you have to account for the entire town table in aggregate, rather than just one player.

eh, this is the disconnect. That latter thought is Always Wrong, you should be Extremely Surprised if all scum are in there, even if you have like an absurd amount of confidence in your reads

do you usually take things so literally in mafia? i don't remember you doing that as town

like, even if i were scumreading a couple of gents and said "damn, wouldn't be surprised if all are in there", it wouldn't mean that i literally would not be surprised, it would just be a way to use colourful language to speak my read on the gamestate. obviously i can't claim andante was doing that, but i don't think it's too difficult to assume that someone *could* be doing that, so...

here's an example that comes to mind where pretty much this exact thing has happened before, and I got scumread for it there too.

I actually think it's important to hash these things out because people's brains have bad probability intuitions and to me it only leads to confbias and bad reads when you think things like we might have 4 scum gentlemen absent any hard information.

the biggest thing I got out of this was a catboi scumread, 226 is both thoughtless and uncharitable

how is that post different from what i said? didn't i basically say the same thing - that your post reads like a gotcha?

I don't like that catboi responded to my explanation of my first post to you to act like that was a push on Andante. I feel like you disliked the question itself but catboi is the one who is making claims/assumptions about an intent behind it.

I think all of this is extremely, extremely trivial for him to fake. I actually agree with a lot of what he's saying, but he has shown repeatedly and clearly his ability & willingness to fake these processes across multiple scumgames onsite, several of which you moderated.

I think he is capable of faking most of it, but I think there was one or two things that would be extremely hard to have done so with.

I think "obviously town" applies here and I am willing to eat foot-in-mouth if I'm mistaken, but has he specifically faked mercy for a scum read before? I certainly don't recall ever seeing or hearing of this; but you have a longer play history with receipts.

there's not anything there for you to reply to, technically speaking. i was hoping you were going to react to it somehow and that that i could read your response... but maybe it's foolish of me to think i could read someone like prism off of tone. it probably is.
