Personally, I know that I tend to be a bit more cavalier with my townreads as mafia, because everything that a confirmed town does looks towny, and you can easily just hand them out like candy. As town I'm more hesitant and paranoid. But I've seen that a lot of people on this site tend to have a... looser approach than what I'm used to, so I dunno. Still weirds me out, though.

My personal experience so far is that outside of Newbie games players tend to put in less effort into reads. After playing like 3-4 Newbies in which players, also other than myself, were efforting rather much and sticking strictly to using logic and reads to solve the game (or misleading town in the case of mafia-aligned players) I played Open 838 and was slightly disappointed.

I think that's because Newbie games are meant to prepare you for what is supposed to be good mafia play and then, when you're past the learning phase, you get confronted with reality. Kinda like how school prepares you for a world that doesn't exist.

Personally, I think the goal of every game should be to transition from RVS to legit discussion as soon as possible, and RVS only exists in the first place as a vehicle for getting the game into the stages of legit discussion.

I think that knowledge is important and might be relevant for me reading that slot later. My vote on them is still very much an RVS vote.
