Communication outside the thread (if your role specifically allows it) is allowed until the game begins.
You may not quote private communication of any kind. This includes moderator-supplied information (either real or fabricated) of any kind. Paraphrasing (for role claims, etc.) is acceptable.
There is to be NO personal communication outside of the forum postings unless your role PM specifically allows it.
Activity/Prods/Replacements
Prods of missing players will be issued after 36 hours of no activity.
A prodded player has 24 hours to respond to the prod, after which time a replacement search will begin. The prodded player may re-enter the game so long as no replacement has been found.
If you anticipate being unavailable for more than 36 hours please PM Cabd and I or post in the thread to declare V/LA.
Deadlines
Deadlines for this game will be 10 days for Day 1 and 7 days for following Day Phases. Night Phases will last 48 hours.
Extensions are given only in extreme circumstances.
If you have a role with a Night action your choices are due to the mods by the posted deadline. If the mods do not receive your choice via PM by the posted deadline you will forfeit your actions.
Player Actions/Voting/Player Death
Starting day 1, if at any point during the day more than half of the living players are voting for a particular player, day will end and that player will be eliminated.
A majority(half plus one) must occur for an elimination to occur
Votes must be bolded or use the [.vote] tags to be counted (e.g.
Vote: Player
or VOTE: Player).
Unvotes are not necessary before changing votes.
Votes made using nicknames or abbreviations will be counted at our discretion. If we think its a vote, then its a vote.

Spoiler: Role PMs

Honestly if the neighbors were just masons I'd call it balanced. Doctor to protect the masons is very strong, but giving the mafia information about the setup and/or an investigative to find the masons serve as a reasonable offset especially given the setup being closed imo.
However, if you want the neighbors to be neighbors? Absurdly scumsided since the setup relies on the neighbors assuming each other to be town in order for them to have any power. (And they won't, because neighborhoods are neighborhoods rather than masonries to most players.)
Ok, I am fine with that. My main idea for the setup was that there was an all town hood and that mafia had to hunt for that hood (I added the doctor because it seemed too plain otherwise). I am fine with making the 3 neighbors into 3 masons if you think that is balanced.
So scum would be informed that Player X is a mason and they would have a rolecop to find out.
Or do you think scum should be informed that there are masons and not a player in particular. IMO I lean towards the first one because then they can have some fun looking at interactions, but I'm not sure if that is balanced.
Yeah, 3 masons + a bit of town power vs 3 scum is a decently common 13p normal trope. You could do a lot of things with a scum informed role here - informing them of a specific mason is a little mean to that mason, but informing them generally of the existence of masons is reasonable. You could also inform them of the existence of a doctor, rather than of masons - this would basically let them know that they're not supposed to shoot a claimed mason because there'll be a doc on them, but hunt for other masons/for the doctor. In that case they'd find out there are masons on a mason death or claim or on a rolecop hit. Of course it's up to the reviewers what they want.
Thanks.
I am fine with informing existence of doctor, but I also don't want scum to be blindsided by there being masons cuz I think masons are pretty powerful. If you think there is a reasonable chance they would be able to figure it out relatively early (by D2 maybe), then I think inform doc is ok but if not then inform mason.
Imo, informing of the doctor is good, and if you opt for traffic analyst, that'd let them know about the masons. (There's a tradeoff obviously. Rolecop lets the scum know the mason if they hit the mason and allows them to find the doctor, but traffic analyst allows the scum to at least reasonably suspect and not be blindsided by masons.)
One, perhaps a bit niche, solution would be to combine the two into a combined rolecop + traffic analyst. The traffic analyst part is worthless because rolecopping a player lets them know the role, but it'd be a way to subtly hint to the scumteam about the masons without explicitly telling them about that. (I'm not entirely sure it's as obvious to players as it is to me, but at least in my view, a rolecop tells the scum everything and then some a traffic analyst would, so the traffic analyst to me is redundant, and thus it being present in spite of being redundant would be to tell the scum that there's private topics to be weary of, without using the Informed to make it explicit.)
In post 2, mastina wrote:neighborhoods are neighborhoods rather than masonries to most players.
my experience playing scum in normals tells me otherwise but i would agree that overall the original setup is definitely way too scumsided and that making it a masonry is Good
if the town is a doc + 3 masons, and mafia has an informed that knows about the existence of a town doc, one idea could be to give scum a combined traffic analyst + vanilla cop, maybe? in mastina's solution, there is a chance that the scumteam could think that the TA is pointless, here i don't think that's the case.
(also, my inner "screw the town" voice is telling me that the doc should have the indecisive or roaming modifier, but realistically i don't think it's really necessary.)
I will straight up disregard all reason if you have a PR dream again. You can come back and be like, “I dreamt that Locke is a N2 Bulletproof Multitasking Cop and Self-Targeting Doctor,” and I will go, “Okay, Locke kill it is then.”
i think that would be a very big hint that hey, there indeed are masons in this game. they'd be unable to find the doctor this way, but if they're already informed of its existence, they could always do it the old-fashioned way of actually reading the game.

I think I'm leaning towards this. The traffic analyst should be enough for maf to be careful about town communications whether mason or neighbors. And ya, scum can just try and find the doctor in dayplay.
i think it's fine. i did have some thoughts on how likely is it that town concludes the doc is town due to all three masons being *just* masons, but i'm speaking from an informed perspective, and not like scum can't counterclaim, so.
