it's mostly an empirical thing -- hence why it's v weak +scum, but it does seem that slots that later flip scum are slightly more likely to make the complaintIn post 489, MalcolmTucker wrote:

I don't really see why such a post is particularly scummy really. I've since caught up and reflected on where I feel the game is at - I just was quite surprised coming in and seeing so much content on the go already.
I think CSF's point was fair enough that I'll generally read back and make sure I know where I am with the game, but it was night for me anyway hence I knew I'd be delayed on a full catch-up until morning.
or hey, maybe I'm confbiased, but I do it myself half the time and I still think that it comes from scum more

I voted CSF for 3 reasons:
(1) I think malc's "oh god 11 pages already" thing is very slightly +scum, but CSF's "he seems like he wouldn't mind the legwork of reading 10 pages" reads as overjustification to me
(2) she didn't say hello to me

Because it's surely a better look than deflecting onto the argument being made being entirely around playstyle. Players can adapt how they approach the game, saying "this is how I play" doesn't stop someone from potentially reading you as mafia. In post 555, Menalque wrote:

Man, it’s not even sunny yet I’m getting all this shade
And I mean, you’re still not really answering the question — it’s one read, that as of this time I haven’t decided if it’s made up or not, and there is no meaningful pressure behind it
Why would I waste my time doing something dreary like rebutting it instead of continuing to trip the light fantastic with my buds"we knew everything... And we knew nothing."- Klick

I don't think anyone is expecting a lengthy rebuttal, but the snarky "you should know my playstyle by now" is pretty clear deflection from the point being made.In post 560, Menalque wrote:Man, it’s not even sunny yet I’m getting all this shade

gonna hit these both at the same time. that sounds cool, congrats! I worked in a summer camp for 3-5 year olds last year, so I have an inkling of the intensity (no idea how you're sustaining it longer term tbh) but definitely glad to hear that you like it!In post 561, Klick wrote: [snip]

I'm physically ill as of this morning, but overall doing pretty well. in a much better place mentally than when I used to play (huh, turns out that *checks notes* shouting at people on a mafia forum instead of *checks notes again* actually dealing with some pretty deep-seated issues wasnota great or sustainable idea!) and just a lot more settled too. trying to make things work here in Madrid long-term but for the last few months it's been nice just having a steady work/lease on an apartment -- I also started getting very into bjj the last few months, so that's been interesting too
that probably is also somewhat of an answer to the play style thing -- I can still get snarky/annoyed and snap, but so far so good on not having any yellings at people or saying anything actually hurtful (at least, I hope so). I'm generally a lot more mellow than when we last were playing kinda regularly, and my reads have uh, declined somewhat in quality lol"we knew everything... And we knew nothing."- Menalque

he seems rather calm, which I think is more town-like than scum-like. there's no notable urgency to catch up from him, and I think scum would want to be more aware of events faster to position themselves better as well as to ward off any suspicions that might have built in the timespan they were awayIn post 554, Menalque wrote:

For the most part the reasoning for the people voting for me is extremely flimsy. I have an opinion or two, another player with good reason questions the opinion, I don't get all huffy puffy with them like some people do when they're questioned, and all of a sudden I'm backpedaling somehow? This is more of a case of people trying to push me in to a corner just for having an opinion and then trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, or as some would call it, voting for LHF. Why not focus on those that are not actually contributing to the game or are doing something actually scummy?- NorwegianboyEE
