I have trouble believing that Beat thinks Me/Meuh/Marci are scum together and decided to do a sundress yacht party because this is not a setup where you can powerwolf since scum kind of by definition have to flip one by one and if any scum gets elimmed the game is over.

DAY TWO

The affair of

stranding

someone was a tense thing, for one simple reason: to leave them stuck was, perhaps, an accident; to send someone off into the ice was murder. A necessary murder, the crew mused, but murder nonetheless.

They fought throughout the day, breaks scarce. Who would want to be away, who could be trusted to be away? If they ate, it would be a meal well missed a month from now. The water they kept safe was pure and plentiful, but to drink it now felt a crime. There was so much worth not found a day ago on the lonely

Eurybia

, and yet they loathed it for its new meaning.

It was Beat who was pushed forward finally. She had, after all, spent part of the night tracing their path through the water. The last one before everyone rose proper, and having given no signal to the crimes before her, the crew felt pleased with themselves with their choice. This, they proclaimed, was the root of evil that cultivated itself among them.

It was, they murmured to themselves, the sacrifice that would set them free. Ridding themselves of evil would be the blessing of oil on a creaking machine, the warmth that would erode away the floes enough to sail through once more.

But as they marched upward to the edges of the

Eurybia

, they all felt uneasy. No one willing to take the blame alone, they pressed forward as one to nudge Beat off the edge. She was quiet as she fell, the loudest noise her body cutting through the cold water. They watched -- and she did not return to the surface.

"So this is handled then," one said, as if it were that simple. And the crew did not want to think it otherwise -- and so they went below once more to sleep and dream cold, grey dreams.

When they woke, there was but one change. Not in the ice, the water, nor the clouds above. No, it was a heavy sense of shame on everyone's shoulders, pressing downward so heavily that they could scarcely do more than return below deck once more.

"I think," someone suggested, "that our task is not yet done. I do not know who sets this task upon us, nor why, but if it was not Beat..."

It was someone else. Their final act the day before was a senseless murder, and there was little justification for it. But now as they sat, staring down one another.

"...we must finish what we have started, lest we all die."
