Why are we pushing for them to claim when we’re thinking of the worst case scenario tho.
If it’s most likely true, why challenge it and not just let it go by or ask Rosen if a crumb has been placed by their buddy beforehand or any of a dozen less riskier approaches?

You have a point. There are explanations I can come up with but they’re basically:
“Dunnstral made an error by reflexively doubting the claim” Dunnstral dug in.
Dunnstral thinks they can talk their way out of it. Dunnstral thinks they can out the partner and gain an advantage for the team and survive the weather etc.
it’s difficult for me to know. But I don’t think Scum gives control by claiming masons. There are holes, but there are a lot of assumptions about competence. Dunnstral already argued that they have little faith in this town, so that this is the actual reason they’re trying to get Rosen to out their buddy.
