A few things:

I am going to be busy for the next week or so. (I can still update the queue, but I might be a bit slower about it.) After that, I'm planning to implement some changes to the queue. I previously posted about them here, but I will repost them again, this time with more detail:

1. The Featured Open Setup list will be removed. Although some of the setups on that list have become popular, the list itself hasn't actually let any games jump the queue in quite a while.
2. In its place, there will be a Candidate Approved List. Any setup that fills relatively quickly, is run successfully, and seems suited to become approved can be put on the list. If it is queued a second time and fills relatively quickly again, then I'll discuss with the Open Review Committee about making it approved. Setups on the Candidate Approved List will get priority in both slots.
3. One open signup slot will be designated the Rapid slot. When /inning to mod, mods will get to choose this slot if they want; the requirements are that the mod must have modded at least one game before, and the setup must have been run at least one time before. Games in this slot will have 7 days to fill half of their slots (rounded down), and 7 more days to fill completely. If this slot is ever empty, I will fill it with a game (unless I am already running one, in which case I'll try to find someone to fill it ASAP).

I am posting this now to give people warning, but primarily because I'm interested in feedback on this system, from both a player and mod perspective. If you have feedback, feel free to PM me or post it in this thread.

And one last thing-- Somnus made a poll of preferred open setups. If you like open setups, you should take it! Don't worry if you don't recognize all of the setups on there, it's helpful if you just click the ones you like, as the data will help mods know what setups will be more successful to run, which should help keep the queue moving.

So how would this affect new and/or experimental setups because that’s what really motivates me to sign up for this queue > normal?

They'd have to wait longer in the queue; how much longer depends on the relative popularity of the two slots. If the rapid slot ends up being often empty while games have to wait a long time in the other slot, I'll make sure to address that.

The new queue rules are now live:

Queue slots

- Only two setups are in signups at any one time. These are referred to as "slots".
Slot 1 is designated as the "Rapid" slot. When a moderator posts their /in to mod, they may choose to use this slot, provided they meet the requirements:

• The moderator must have modded at least one game before.
  
• The setup must have been run at least once before. (There can be small changes in between, but it must be largely the same.)

Slot 1 will take the first Rapid game in the queue. It will have 10 days to fill half its slots, rounded down, and 4 additional days to fill completely. If it is ever empty, I will make an effort to fill it as quickly as possible.
Slot 2 will take the first game in the queue (Rapid or not). It will have 18 days to fill, pausing at 3 days remaining if the queue is empty. I can extend this at my discretion.
As of right now, moderators who meet the requirements to run a game Rapid may still choose to run it as a standard game. If this results in too few Rapid games being run, I may change this rule, and require running games as Rapid if they meet the requirements.

Candidate Open Setups

- I am always looking for new setups to add to the Approved Open Setups list (especially 13-player ones). If I see a setup that consistently fills quickly and is enjoyed by the playerlist, then it is probably a good fit for the Approved list. Therefore, if a setup seems to meet the specifications to be approved and is run successfully once, it will be added to the Candidate Open list. A setup on this list will get priority in the queue over setups not on the list, and if it fills again, it will be added to the Approved Open Setups list.

They will take effect once one of the current games leaves the queue.
