Rumble

Rumble is a game where players invent their own superpowers, then bid on those same superpowers and fight in an attempt to triumph over everyone else.

Some house rules:
1. I reserve the ability to veto any Power that I feel is too hard to process or unhealthy for the game (e.g “Spend 1 to deal 100 unavoidable damage to all players except yourself” will be vetoed). I also have final say over ambiguities in the wordings or interactions of Power.
2. Starting round 4, 50% of the energy allocated to unused defense will be burned.
3. Players have 48 hours to submit their actions each phase/round (except for the auction, which lasts for 72 hours). If this deadline is exceeded, I will prod any players who have not submitted their actions yet. I may also replace players at any time.

slight rules change: the 50% burn starting round 4 only applies to unused defense, not all defense (so if you were to defend for 50 and get attacked for 40, 10 of that defense would be unused and as such, 5 energy would be burned)

All powers have been received and the auction has begun! Here's the list of powers that are up for auction today:

Barnacle

The player who bids the most for this gives this to another player

At the end of the round the player holding this power loses 10 energy. This power passes to the player with the most energy remaining at the end of the round (or doesn't pass if the player currently holding it has the most energy).

Flight

Burn 5 to halve the potency of all attacks (excluding superhero powers) against you.

Moderator Note:

This only applies to the round it's used on.

Freed from Reality

You do not lose energy. You may only activate powers you control once per turn. At the end of the 6th round, you lose the game.

Force Field

Spend 10 energy to gain 20 defense.

Mindful Rest

If you neither lose nor allocate energy during a round, double the amount of energy you have.

Moderator Note:

Pretend that "a" is meant to be "this".

Delayed Triplicate

Bids for this Power are not shown, nor are they processed, until the start of round 3. Create two sidekicks that are a copy of you (after you have paid the Energy for this Power.)

Moderator Note:

This power is only used after round 3 begins and cannot be used afterwards. The sidekicks created have the same amount of energy as you would have after winning the bid for this. You may not change your bid on this after the auction ends.

Wandering Love
Flaw:

All your actions target a single randomized player each round.

Copy Cat

Burn 15 to permanently change this superpower into a different superpower in the game of your choice. This change occurs at the end of the Resolution Phase.

Automatic Crossbow

At the start of every round, roll a d6. If you roll a 1, discard this power. Otherwise, you may allocate extra points to attacks equal to 5x the number rolled.

Quick Dodge

Spend 5 to entirely dodge the smallest non-zero attack towards you. Applies before defense. This superpower cannot be used when there is only one opponent remaining.

This phase will last for 72 hours to allow players to resolve any ambiguities before making their final decision. Please send me a PM containing a list of your bids for every power in (expired on 2022-08-10 10:00:00).

This is a pretty good power set. Doesn't look like there are any broken powers although some may be a bit overpowered.

some questions I was asked privately:

Does Quick Dodge stack? (if I use it 2x, does it block 2 attacks)

i'd say no, given that the wording is "dodge the smallest non-zero attack towards you" and since powers all resolve simultaneously, each use of that power would apply to the same attack

How does Flight + Crossbow work?

since crossbow gives you points to allocate instead of attacking outright, i'm going to say crossbow is a normal attack and is thus halved by flight

Hello! This is lendun reporting tonight for the Superhero News Network. Currently in the city of Nowhere, Idaho, the yearly Superhero Power expo is currently being hosted. The main star of the show are the 5 superheroes invited to demonstrate their latest powers and gadgets to the general public. Let’s cut to our live feed right now to see the details!

First up is NotAJumbleOfNumbers, the newest superhero invited here today. He currently appears to be demonstarting his massive strength; not unusual, but does he have anything else? Looks like the answer is no, and he leaves the stage facing a slightly dissatisfied audience.

Next comes mallowgeno, who’s demonstrating their new force field. It sure looks gnarly, but there seems to be something wrong. Our hero seems to be exhibiting symptoms of some weird variant of Stockholm syndrome. Regardless, the audience is satisfied.

Here comes the next hero! On the stage right now is Ircher, showing off his lightspeed dodging abilities. The audience is elated!

Shoving Ircher out of the way, here is NDMath! They are demonstrating some form of creature they have dubbed the Barnacle; it is currently unknown whether or not the creature is hostile and where it has come from.

Our last hero of the day is Jake The Wolfie! He doesn’t appear to have come to the stage yet. We’ve luckily gotten permission to go backstage, so our camera is going there right now. Let’s see what our hero is doing… what the fu- *cut to ad*
Viewers, we are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved hero Jake The Wolfie. He appears to have been crushed by the sheer weight of the gadgets he brought; it is currently unknown whether this was an accident or a murder. Police are currently investigating the case.

Well, that brings the expo to an early close. It ended on a sad note, but we’re still excited to see what the Superhero Power expo has for the future. This is reporter lendun on behalf of the Superhero News Network, signing off… hey, what’s that growling?

Jake The Wolfie went on too hard of a shopping spree and got eliminated.
