Trying to keep up with the thread so I don’t have tons to catch up on later. I am townreading so many players that the three rep outs almost certainly has a higher-than-average concentration of scum

I used “tunnel” in a joke-y manner in this game. It’s more of an intentional “I refuse to see Datisi as town” than “no matter how hard I try I can’t townread him”. Probably tunnel was a poor choice of words. I’ve previously found him lightly scummy, realized no one else did, let him make a few good points about my read on him, and gave up on scum reading him, when in reality he was scum. He’s great at defusing scumreads on him and I’m one of 2-3 people scumreading him. It feels like… valuable to hold onto it even though it’s not as confident as I’ve made it seem

my comment is in response to scamper about whether the suspicion feels "real" or "not"

I recognize that a lot of times people are read as town/scum on the

conviction

they exude and its a fairly reliable metric when applied to most players - however for the metagame it is extremely toxic and painful to play and I find it refreshing that Relly's push feels more whimsical and playful rather than how some people push with absolute conviction.


In regards to whether relly is scum trying to mislim you or town who is overly sensitive because he's seen you work as scum twice now, I'm not really sure - I'd think it's more likely to be the later than the former - I think there are a lot easier targets than you but I guess he could be replicating something he was planning to do earlier - hence scamper's point about why it looks fake-sorty.

Agree to disagree, though on D1 my reads are very much in flux. I picture mafia as a bunch of people finding their seats around a circle. Scum try to scatter around the circle so that when mobs start forming, each mob has a scum or two to help direct it. Meanwhile town are trying to sit together so scum can’t influence them (makes sense in my head). D1 I flit around the circle, joining groups of townies and then abandoning them to see if things make more sense from the other side of the circle. Nothing is set in stone until someone flips. So maybe y’all just generally have a problem with my projected confidence when in my own head I’m only ever talking from that point of view temporarily, and using semi-inflated confidence to keep the game moving

GL walked back a "cop crumb" and i think scum who would have dropped something like that would have made it more ambiguous or walked back on it later in the game.

idk, i can totally see scum!guiltylion making a post that has the word "cop" in it, then realizing that, and being like "oh shit, what if when i claim xyz people point at this post and go 'is this you softing cop, gl?' fuck damage control gogogo" so idk i think it's nai overall

I mean, maybe Hems list wasn't so bad after all. Like maybe it's a little weird to differentiate the strength of your town reads with "likely" and "probably" and not do that for scum reads. Using POE for all the scumreads also seems a bit odd to me but no one else said anything about it besides us.

im also avoiding the dreaded game-losing tunnel of convincing myself through positive bias that i'm right about a scumread
i dont need that this game when there are slots that hasn't even posted

i agree that replace outs are +scum after pressure especially in this environment
from modding newbie games, i recognized a pattern of people replacing out when it becomes too overwhelming to reassert yourself as town

I think if you don't stress about not falling asleep then it's better rest for yourself.

just lying down and emptying your brain for half an hour feels great for me even when I'm awake.

but if I'm stressing about not being able to fall asleep it feels like torture.

okay, i am awake, i am rested, i have quit my shitty job, let's see what is happening in this game

first thing that i wanna address is hem's 1273, and the posts related to it. from what i can gather, the similarities are that i'm dismissing your earlier read on me as invalid for ~reasons~, and i'm trying to discourage it by calling the conversation boring.

i think the problem is that you made a connection with one singular thing i did this game that's not what you'd expect of me, and then made the callback to that other game. because, like i said before, i to the ask-questions-make-reads-later pattern, *but* the thing that i noticed about ari at first, i figured it's not actually that good of a basis for making reads. this isn't uncommon to me, i often ask q's and then seemingly "ignore" the response because i realized that it doesn't actually give me anything. a similar thing happened here, except i had that realization in the middle of typing the thing.

i do see why you'd think the latter part, though. because i definitely *was* trying to end that conversation. fmpov, you were harping on about a minor point that was not correct, and i had explained why it's not correct, and you were not buying it despite me explaining already. and the only thing i can do in that moment is explain it again, which probably won't do anything. and that's boring. maybe "boring" isn't the exactly right word, the more accurate feeling would be "can we PLEASE be doing something other than this".

having said all of that, i can understand why you'd draw parallels of my play here with my play that game, so. and i kind of like you'd made that parallel, i think.

though i'm not sure you'll be the type of scum who would differentiate their scum game from their town game just from the sheer amount of experience you have
