Just thought of a crazy idea, should work in larger scale, gonna try it this weekend:
Tribal Mafia--Invasion from the west
Evil Magician
The evil magician has a few abilities, which he/she can choose one to use per night:
1) Divine Lighting: Kills target player, unconditionally. All other players targeting that player dies with him.
2) Poison: 'Poisons' target player without player knowing. On the next day, all other players who voted with him will die at dusk. Yes, that includes the magician himself.
Magicians cannot be killed at night, and will kill everyone targeting him at night(regardless of action). However, if the magician is the subject of any night action, he will not be able use his other two abilities the next night.
Wins when he is the sole survivor of the village.
Banshee
On first night and unconditionally, the player will die, yet stays in game without others knowing. Each night ghost chooses another living player to 'possess'. The possessed player will then, die on the next night, unconditionally. If possessed player is lynched during day, the last player who voted for him will be possessed(no possess option that night) The possession can only be removed when a Witch Doctor is, immediately banishing the ghost player from game but not saving the target.
Wins when the entire village has been killed without Banished.
Witch Doctor
WITCH DOCTOR - Each and every night, the witch doctors chooses one player and add 1 temp. life for that player during that round. Should the zombies attack that person, the player will loose temp. lives first. If a witch doctor is killed, a random villager will rise up as one.
Zombies
Like regular mafias, however zombies get 1 killeachper night.
Setup:
20 players
4 zombies
2 witch doctors
1 evil magician
1 ghostBlack Rose-

Idea:
* let 12 people sign up.
* create 12 alternate accounts
* Assign alternates to players
* Reveal which 3 players (not alts) are scum and which 9 players are town.
* Make playerclaiming or any form of identifying someone a modkillable offense.
* Watch
horrible, but might be fun.
however, this makes quite a different game: townies will play like they always do, scum will try to mimic this. That's hard. I think the setup must help scum a bit. One or two post restrictions might help.
Add a godfather who is investigation immune (ie, their regular username is not revealed), and limit NKs to every other night.- KaleiÐoscøpe

Idea - Replacement Mafia:
* let 12 people sign up
* a normal setup
* any player outside of the game can request replacement for a certain player. To do this, they pm the player. The chosen player can then pm me to allow the replacery.
* The replacement will then be an "alt" of the player, who can talk and play as the "replaced" player, controlling their vote and nighttalk. The original player still has the same rights, and can still vote and post. It's essentially a second head for the player.
* Any number of players can "replace" a certain player.
* Once a player dies, the replacers die with it, and are unable to replace again.

I had an idea-Mafia Mafia.
Flavor:
Well well, looks like the worm has turned. This mafia group has forgotten to endgame the remaining townies, still killing them one at a time. Furthermore, it has gotten so large as to become disorganized. Now the uninformed majority has become the informed minority.
In the night, players vote on who to shoot. In the day, the townies talk in a quicktopic and decide who to sneak up on and lynch. Mafia power roles submit their day-actions. Roles would be mafia-themed, but the town is essentially the mafia and vice versa. For instance, there could be a corrupt cop role.
I also thought of putting in a jester with the following role pm and a cult recruiter with the role pm afterwards:
You are the jester. You still have not managed to get lynched yet, so you just gave up on the whole lynching thing. Every day, target someone. If they are mafia, you will turn them into a jester like yourself. If they are town, you will fail. You win when over 50% of the players are jesters. Laugh, I tell you, laugh! HA HA HA HA HA!
You are the cult recruiter. Unfortunately, you have not managed to recruit a single townie because your cult is stupid. You have one last chance. By the town's loose laws, if you can trick people into voting for you- for ANYTHING- you gain power over the town. Thus, you must get the mafia to try to shoot you. You win if the mafia vote to shoot you.Anyone who would actually play mafia sucsk- Mr. Flay

It's been done before (with that name, even), but that doesn't mean it's not a good idea. It's essentially flavor on a normal game...
It can also be done horribly wrong. Balance is more key than flavor for this type of game.Retired as of October 2014.- elvis_knits

Amnesia Mafia
(for people who hate re-reading)
Every night, the previous day's posts are deleted. Town power roles can choose to save certain posts (like maybe 5 maximum). Scum power role can save and alter a post (sort of like a frame, although editing in "I'm da scum" would probably not work).
I'd like to be able to bring back all the posts at the end, so people could see how well they remembered things, but don't know if that's possible.
Also, I know there is nothing to stop players from copying the posts into their own document and rereading that way. But I think I can allow that and just say that you can't quote anything that has been deleted. So, you can reread it for yourself if you're willing to do all that extra work, but you can't use quotes from it to build a case in the game.Talk nerdy to me.

I think it's okay if people keep a log, as long as they know they can't quote the log in the game. They can paraphrase or whatever, but since there is no record in the game, they might be lying. WIFOM?shaft.ed wrote:If players have a log that really defeats the purpose. I'd just use the honors system to be sure people aren't keeping a log. As for replacements... I've replaced into games that were bordering on 100 pages and told everyone I didn't plan on reading the game. I think it's actually sort of fun because it's so much easier to replace when you don't have to reread. Although, maybe not everyone feels the same way. You can ask the other players to give you a recap, and then they argue if someone is skewing the recap... it can be a way to find scum actually, if people don't give faithful recaps.Talk nerdy to me.
