Yes, I am counterclaiming Aquinas.

Why would you risk lynching scot or myself today? Have Slicey check our names tonight, and lynch based on that.
If he lies, you have paid one townie for two scum.
If he tells the truth, you get to lynch a scum and keep a sure townie.
If the scum kill him to keep him quiet, one of their kills has been pulled away from your cool kids in-group and onto the not-so-confirmed group, making your grand plan a lot more airtight.

That's why we vig stark if the vig can still kill, and lynch sam/farside (I'd much prefer a sam lynch). I'll check scot, cause I don't think Korejora would have counterclaimed unless it was true.

The fact that the vig hasn't killed stark yet makes me think that the vig is actually an SK and that it's stark.

You're all honestly very wrong.

But if the validation of my townliness is what is required to divert the scum-hunting energies of the town elsewhere, I am more than happy to die.

Hey wait a minute.

Is the mafia framer going to come in handy for this stunt?

@ stark
@ scotmany

Any thoughts on Kore's scum gambit? Is stark really immune to framers, or he is a framer?

Can you, like, hunt scum if you want to validate your townieness???

Novel concept: what if the scum-hunting energy came from you?

@ Robin Hood

DO NOT SHOOT STARK!!!
- Korejora is lying scum that much is clear. It's only a matter of kill order at this point.

I have some very clever thoughts, but first, samhorn must claim.

I'm well aware. I think I put two and two together.

Mod Prod: sam.samhorn

He needs to claim in his next post.

WOW. I think I see where you're going with this. Clever, but very, very wrong.

I'll wait till after sam claims, too, though, if that's what you want.

Thought: could Scotmany and Korejora BOTH be scum trying to pull off a Setesh Gambit* (probably off a Thomas Aquinas safeclaim)? If not, we've got at least one stupid scum on our hands barring severe mod shenanigans** - either Korejora for false counterclaiming (only makes any sort of sense if it's a total desperation move or if there's one more scum than I thought) or scotmany for claiming a role name that was likely to get counterclaimed.

Maybe I should start looking at the possibility of three surviving Mafia, too.

* - Setesh Gambit is where a scumbuddy counterclaims his own partner's falseclaim in an effort to gain false town credibility (as pulled by Tarhalindur as Setesh in Stargate SG-1). It works better if a safeclaim is provided, as that removes the chance that the counterclaimed role name is actually in the game (that's what prevented the gambit from working in SG-1), but can be used without.
** - Read: duplicate roles in the setup in a history-themed game (no flavor reason for there being duplicate roles that I can think of). Unless there's speculation that Aquinas was more than one person using a pseudonym?

Nice work on the Setesh gambit.

Tar, there's another intriguing possibility.

But I'm not speaking until samhorn has claimed. I don't want to give him an 'out.'

The flavour scotmany provided points to a very specific person that my role is also clearly referring to. I seriously doubt duplicates unless it's an
exact
duplicate (e.g. one of us is "delusional" and thinks we are Thomas or something) and that seems phenomenally unlikely to me.

Then there's DGB's batshit insane idea. It really
is
interesting, even if it's pretty damn far out there.

Regarding vigging stark.. by now it looks like to me that stark thought being a godfather meant he was investigation immune, and just realized that there's no cop so he's probably kill immune instead. Hence, he's inviting Robs to waste an arrow, and since he can't
tell
us he's lost the arrow without outing himself, we still end up without stark's alignment. Hopefully this exact thing hasn't already happened.

Well, if stark doesn't get vigged, we lynch him instead. He's either GF or SK, and neither is good for the town.

DGB, a thought: would this theoretical scum ability work on its scumteam? If not, my suggestion can still work.

Obviously I think she is scum. Don't understand why she would try to pull this gambit, seems foolish, but I highly doubt we are both the same person.

Pretty much confirmed town.

1. DrippingGoofball TOWN
3. Slicey replaced hasdgfas N2 PROB TOWN
8. camn PROB TOWN
14. Tarhalindur replaced Jebus D1 TOWN
15. populartajo TOWN

Pretty much non-confirmed

4. Korejora replaced CounselWolf D1
9. stark
11. scotmany12
12. sam.samhorn
18. farside22

Also, masons, can there be a possibility of camn being a GF or something like that?

My impression was that a godfather could be either one. Or both, I guess. Assuming one or the other does not have implications as to your knowledge of the role.

I haven't read this thread since day opened

Just to let everyone know, on Tuesday night my home was broken into and my computer was stolen. This is the first internet access I have had since then, and I'm paying for the internet. I have ordered a new laptop, and it should arrive mid-week to late-week. I will reread when I get back....

Assuming sam doesnt claim Aquinas as well.
