An Idea I find interesting, I may have mentioned it earlier: You take a normal open setup of any size that is well balanced (or even favoring town slightly). Then start a game as normal, until all the actions of the first night have concluded. Then you switch everyone's role, maintaining those that are still alive but putting them with different people.

This would eliminate buddying as a scumtell, which is why I think setup slightly favoring town should be used.

Example:

Bob is Mafia
Carolyn is Mafia

Chiquita is Townie
Marge is Townie
Denzel is Doctor

Day 1, Bob is lynched as Mafia

Night 1, The Mafia kills Chiquita. Then the mod switches the roles randomly, so that

Marge is Mafia

Denzel is Townie
Carolyn is Doctor

I like this idea but I'm wondering if it'll work.

Sleep Cycle Mafia

Instead of the usual day/night routine about half the players are awake at night and sleep during the day, all of the roles only work on the time they are awake, it's kinda like having 2 seperate day and night phases.
Some roles that could be added are: Stimulator (wakes up a sleeping player), Sedative (puts an awake player to sleep) and sleep-swappers (change round when they sleep and when they are awake).
Effects (like being suicidal or a bomb) include: Sleeping Beauty (is asleep day and night) and Insomniac (is awake day and night).

Tar or someone with similar experience with screwed-up set-ups will hopefully be co-modding/looking over the set-up before I run it. I can assure you that it will not be like MS Gaiden.

Had an idea that others may have had or used before:

12 role names (private/sent only to players)
12 role functions (public/posted in thread)

Role functions are a mix of both active (kill, investigate, protect, block, etc) and passive (un-lynchable/killable, bomb, PGO, miller, GF, etc).

Game is normal series of day/night lynch cycles. Players wishing to use powers at night must PM the mod their trying to guess their power (ie: Kill, investigate, etc). Wrong power results in no effect, but possibly trackable/watchable visit.

Scum may or may not be able to talk, but would definitely know each other.

Lazy Neighborhood Mafia


Imagine a round-shaped area with 12 people on the perimeter. Just like a clock, with numbers 1-12 presenting the people. So everyone's got two "neighbors".

For example, 1 and 11 are 12's neighbors. So 12 can talk at nights with 1 and 11, but 1 and 11 can't talk with each others. The only exception to this rule is that the mafia can talk with each others even if they're not neighbors, so with a mafia group of 3, in theory, one person could have 4 different people to talk with at nights.

When people die, they're simply removed from the neighborhood. For example, if 12 dies, then 1 and 11 become neighbors and can talk to each others. If 11 also dies, then 1 and 10 would become neighbors.

In addition, the town power roles are only able to target their neighbors, while mafia and other anti-town roles can target whoever they want.
