What about Law Firm Mafia? Would anyone be interested? Where there is a normal mafia, and there are 2 law firs (cults) and try to get clients (townies, etc.)?

Anything with some sort of creature or mythology I'd definately go for. Also, law firm would be interesting, but I think it could be evolved into more than just a normal game. However, rival cults would be an interesting innovation.

Would anybody be interested in playing Human Body mafia?

This is Dave. (picture of dave) Dave has a wife (Jane) and a kid (Billy), but they're not relevant now.

Through forces yet unknown, several of dave's organs have taken a life of their own, and while most of the organs are happy to work together to make the rest of Dave's life as pleasant as possible, there are some who feel that, well, does Dave really need a liver? And they've been making remarkable progress with mechanical hearts now, i'm sure Dave would love that, after we get rid of the real one that is...

Enough backstory now, like i said, the players are part of Dave. This ranges from skin and hair to heart and lungs to skeleton and ears.
I would try to make the game function as much as a human body, within limits ofcourse, killing the brain wouldn't immediately stop the game, but the eye will have a lot more trouble interpreting what he's seeing.
And mouth can kill by eating anyone he wants but if stomach doesn't agree with that decision the player goes right back out. (if you'll excuse the visual image that conjured up), while tongue might find out that licking everybody he comes across might not be very healthy at all.

Also keep in mind i never got anything but 6's in biology, so it might not be very accurate at all :P

Sure - I'd play that, though sign-up would hinge on number of players (I don't really care for games over 20).

I probably wouldn't play, but I'd be glad to help critique it, seeing as I have a penchant for making wacked-out games. I would caution you against trying to make it "too" realistic; sure, the brain going into a coma isn't fatal, but have you ever tried to function without kidneys?

Anyway, that's all I'll say in public, but I think you'd find an audience for that sort of game here.

How about a fairly standard setup, except players are allowed to post either as themselves, or anonymously as guest? Or alternately each player has a second "secret identity" account, and you can post as yourself or your secret identity?

Well, just about everyone (Myself not included) hates blind games, where you have to post as a "secret identity" account. Your idea is a little different, at least.

Ok, I know I'm not really qualified to Mod a game yet, but I wanted to get some initial opinions on these ideas anyway. I have been completely addicted to Mafia lately, and have had some rather cool (I think) ideas.

1. Family Guy (I found out while reading some of this thread that this had already been mentioned. :-( )

2. Holiday Mafia (Your role would be Santa, Easter Bunny...ect. My only concern would be that I may not have enough characters to go around. My only idea to combat this would be to have Christmas be the Mafia. Santa the Kingpin, and the Reindeer other mafiosos?)

3. Cowboy Bebop (I can't help it. I just love it so much. This is the one I see as having the most potential, as the characters are amazing, and fit into many roles easily. If I did this, it owuld most likely have a few experimental/uncommon roles.)

4. Adult Swim (That's right, your role would be a show on Adult Swim. I personally like ANime, but I think they would end up being the Mafia because AS always has jokes about how bad Anime does in the ratings. I think this one could be hilarious.)

5. Dark Tower (I really don't think I need to say more. If you read the books you know how amazing this could be if done right.)

Well, what do you guys thnk? Oh, and for the record, what are your qualifications to host here?

That's okay. The sooner you claim your ideas, the less chance of someone else doing what you have your heart set on. That being said...
1. Family Guy (I found out while reading some of this thread that this had already been mentioned. :-( )
Yeah, I think we've had two FG games so far, probably enough for the near future...
2. Holiday Mafia (Your role would be Santa, Easter Bunny...ect. My only concern would be that I may not have enough characters to go around. My only idea to combat this would be to have Christmas be the Mafia. Santa the Kingpin, and the Reindeer other mafiosos?)
I like the idea, and there's plenty of other holidays to choose from... but I would caution you against discussing the roles of the Mafia in public, just in case you do end up running such a game... players can be remarkably clever (or think they're clever) with the Search function.
3. Cowboy Bebop (I can't help it. I just love it so much. This is the one I see as having the most potential, as the characters are amazing, and fit into many roles easily. If I did this, it owuld most likely have a few experimental/uncommon roles.)
I like it. I think this has good potential, and given the other games that do well here, the theme should get you a lot of players.
4. Adult Swim (That's right, your role would be a show on Adult Swim. I personally like ANime, but I think they would end up being the Mafia because AS always has jokes about how bad Anime does in the ratings. I think this one could be hilarious.)
Could also be good. I thought I heard someone talking about this recently - might do a search on the phrase "adult swim"?
5. Dark Tower (I really don't think I need to say more. If you read the books you know how amazing this could be if done right.)
It might be tough to find roles that are safe for scum to claim, but yes, this could be very exciting...and I'd probably play. (rolando might, too).
Well, what do you guys thnk? Oh, and for the record, what are your qualifications to host here?
Getting on the list for a Normal Game (which none of these would qualify for, except maybe Holiday, being themed from shows/books), or either of the Mini lists, just requires that you have played a game here. Theme Park requires successful moderation of at least one game, here or other approved sites... but I'd suggest you play a few games in different types before starting to set up your games. Will give you a feel for game dynamics here...then you can feel free to experiment, knowing your baseline. Good luck!

Ok, I know I just posted Ideas, but I am just exploding with them at this point, so I'd like to post a few more.

6. Mutiny (Not based of Pirates of the Car. like the other. Just a regular ship that has a few mutinous crew members.

7. Fight Club (<3)

8. Cube (This would probably have to be a mini game due to the sheer lack of characters. I do however have a great idea for the mafia in this one)

9. Metal Gear (I am suprised there hasn't been one already. Then again I may not have looked hard enough.)

10. McArthy (sp) Trials (What's more in spirit with the paranoid atmosphere of Mafia, then Mr. Jingoist's crusade?)

11. Philosophers (You character will be a philosopher. Who exactly would be Mafia would be somewhat of a philisophic question itself :-P )

I have no plans to start hosting in the near future. I plan to wait until I've got some games under my belt. And I am not trying to "call dibbs" on these premises either. Anyone is free to steal these and host them yourself.......Except Dark Tower. I want that one. ;-P

I'm working on a variant I call "Lights Out" Mafia, based on the mechanics of early IRL variants I've read about. The basic twist is that the game doesn't go to night after a lynch, it only goes to night when the town votes "lights out". Dead roles aren't revealed until night falls.

I have two possible themes I'm thinking of using - one based in a late-19th-century London coffeehouse, and one set in a series of 14-year-old-girls' birthday sleepover parties.

Thoughts?

Both of these are currently going on in Mini Theme.
I replaced into Chess Mafia for 6 months, and all I got was a win and this lousy sig.

Well, once there are two confirmed town, they can lynch everyone else and probably win. Once there are more confirmed town than scum, they can lynch everyone else and certainly win.

I'm working on mechanics to deal with that. Possibly a non-role-revelation, but instead only revealing how many scum are left (so true confrimation is harder to achieve), possibly defining the win as only if you're alive at the end (so people won't go along with the mass sacrifice strategy).

How about a Fruits Basket Mafia? Fruits Bsket is a popular manga series that has to do with the zodiac.

Does a Mini game ALWAYS have to be 12? I was thinking, if not, that FB Mafia could be 16...

Sounds like the Cruise Ship game I've got in mind... but it could be done a lot of ways. Mine's very Experimental/Variant...
8. Cube (This would probably have to be a mini game due to the sheer lack of characters. I do however have a great idea for the mafia in this one)
Not even having seen the movie (yet), this sounds intriguing. Just make sure your mafia isn't so obvious/roles so restricted that a claim on Day One breaks things wide open for the town.
McArthy (sp) Trials (What's more in spirit with the paranoid atmosphere of Mafia, then Mr. Jingoist's crusade?)
Lovely. McCarthy, by the way...(I think).
I don't really like Minis though.
Is there a particular reason why not? They tend to move a little faster than Normal/Theme games, but not so quickly decided as Newbies... they're my favorite, usually, unless it's a REALLY good Theme Game...

PBuG: As far as I know, Minis can be NO MORE than 12 players (some are 10 or less), but a Normal/Theme Park game can be anywhere down to 16, I'm sure...

Sharpe mafia- based off the best selling sharpe series by bernard cornwell, doing an interest level check, and seeking a co-mod/ author for the game, i only have a few vague ideas for roles/mechanics at the minute, anyone seeking to co-mod should have read at least a few of the series, if not most of them.

I know video games have been done quite a bit, but I've got some ideas for a
Super Smash Bros. Melee
mafia. If it has been done before, let me know. If there is a mod out there who doesn't want to participate, but wouldn't mind helping me out to make sure I'm not going overboard with the roles, I'd be much obliged. Kind of curious if people would be interested. PM me and I'll save you a spot.
